My dad constantly listened to Dire Straits, The Rolling Stones and the Grateful Dead. I like the Stones and especially Dire Straits, but the Dead didn't rub off on me.

Grow up? As a kid, I'd only listen to the radio station my parents would listen and my dad's Pink Floyd... but the first music that I really got into hard were Our Lady Peace and Blink 182 in High School.

I grew up listening to all the commercial trash that was around at the time, and actually became quite alienated to music for a bit because I thought it was all that bad. It was UK pop like S-Club 7, Steps, Five, Bewitched, Boyzone, The Backstreet Boys, et cetera.

Eww...

EDIT: I didn't really get into what I love now until I was about 13 or 14. How bad is that?  :(

my dad always played aerosmith and the beatles. around 5th grade i started listening to system of a down(back when they were good).

the band that got me into the music i listen to today is linkin park. i hardly ever listen to them now, but they were the first rock band that i listened to.
