metal with singing none of that screaming crap

also classical is very very good but some people don't have the patience or brain to listen to it.

mistervengeance

True on the patience part, but not the brain part. You don't need to be an intellectual to enjoy cIassical music. But if you want to appreciate it on more than an "it's alright in small doses" level, you do need to take the time to learn about what you're hearing, since it's complex music that is meant to be appreciated as much for how it is crafted as for how it sounds. So that's where patience becomes a factor.

Metal of varying genres from Death Metal to Folk Metal and Ludovico Einaudi. (I think I'm on the top listeners again :) )

Also I went to a festival in my village earlier today and heard what was supposedly Folk Rock, but personally I think it was verging on the borders of Folk Metal in some songs, the band members definitely looked and acted like they were in a small metal band, it was quite funny seeing little old ladies who live in a quiet English village happily listening to a hairy bloke headbanging on a stage after having a few drinks.

Yeah, but what do you expect in a musical climate where people get their music in short 4-5 minute doses. Classical pieces require a little too much effort for some...and forget about Opera. People have been so brainwashed by the voices of popular music that they can not appreciate the skill it takes to be an Opera singer...but whatever *goes back to listening to Jay-Z*

I listen to a lot of genres: indie, alternative, punk, hip-hop, folk, country, emo, electronica, jazz, blues - just whatever really. My favourite genre is Indie, though, but my favourite bands/artists are Nick Drake, My Bloody Valentine, The Velvet Underground, Big Star, Husker Du, Boards of Canada and The Beatles.

As for Classical music, I don't really like Baroque music (stuff like Vivaldi and J.S. Bach just doesn't really appeal to me) but I like Classical and love music from the Romantic period. My favourite composer is probably Rachmaninov.

The only genre I don't like is Metal.

EDIT: man, I really can't stand the attitude of most people who listen to Classical music. They think they're above you in some way. Music is music.

Rock, metal, rap (mostly 90's stuff), classic rock, pretty much anything as long as it sounds good to me.

Bands I really like: Machine Head, Neurosis, Misfits, The Clash, Queen, Ramones, Mastodon, Pantera, Sleep, and so many more.

Rap artist I like: Tupac, Biggie, Nas, Lupe Fiasco, Bone Thugs n Harmony, Cypress Hill, and so on.

Favorite song: Kenny Rogers & The First Edition - Just Dropped In
