And why did you choose that school?
I'm going to University of Victoria cause I live there and it's a pretty prestegious Canadian university.

Ah, okay then.
Well, I'm an undergraduate at the University of Chicago.
I graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
Great school, for anyone looking into it. Awesome area to live, too

Well, I am probably going to move to California if I go forward with my plan of changing my major to Comp. Sci. so I can become a programmer for a dev.
What did you major in over there?

Cal Poly has an excellent computer science and electrical engineering department.
People think of it mainly as an agricultural and engineering school, but its got a lot of good stuff. Huge, huge aeronautical engineering department...hell, they even set up a place in town that builds satellites lol.
As for myself, I got my degree in food science
If anything, I'll end up taking some community college courses. I might, however, if i have the time, take an online correspondence course from TRU.

I looked my school's food science department up on Wikipedia. Apparently, it's one of the top schools for food science in the nation! :O
Right now, I don't know next to nothing about comp. sci. besides basic HTML that I learned in high school. I've been teaching myself some Java over Winter Break. I still have to do a little more research before I change the major.
Uh, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Compared to the other schools I got into, it was a no brainer.
I'm in the American University in Beirut. One of, if not the best university in the middle east.Maqda7the only middle-eastern universities in the world's top 100 are the hebrew university in jeruslaem(89 in 2008) and the tel aviv uni. and i just checked and even those went down to 101 and 114.
I go to the University of Wollongong. It's an average-sized university and is ranked roughly 200 in the world by Times, which is roughly 10th in the country. It's considered a second-tier university but it's main focus is on student education, not research, so it's rank varies greatly depending on the criteria
I have been studying Sociology, Political Science and Statisticsat my local university for 3.5 years (Örebro University).
However I have now been admitted to Uppsala University whichis ranked as the 74th best in the world in a recent study (which mostly focused on research, though).I'm a bit tired of my old university, so it will be nice with some change, and to study in an older university (it was founded in 1477).

I never ever look at rankings. But seriously, AUB has been long known in the middle east to produce the best doctors and engineers and business men and it employs some of the finer teachers. And it's a ****ing hard college to get into.
I came very close to doing that same degree at the same University, but in the end I decided I'd rather teach Biology and Chemistry, so I had to go to University of Regina because they have a direct entry program.University of Alberta, doing a degree in Biochemistry.

oh i think i kinda know someone that goes there :oI attended Universal Technical Institute in Orlando, Florida.

I'm currently attended a University on an alien mothership.. I'm not allowed to discuss the details though. They don't like it when I do that... and may revoke my permit.
For those people saying "top 50 school; prestigious school", who cares? You act like you're hot stuff just because you happen to go to a school that's high ranked on some list.

Someone's jealous.
Nope. I don't care if people post what college, that's fine for me. It's just douches like you who I hate who try to act like they're special by saying "its a top 50 school" or whatever, like they're trying to rub it into peoples' faces.
I agree (I'm not saying shoryuken is doing it), but I hate when people post rankings or whatever else in order to put down others. Be proud wherever you go, but no reason to showboat.I agree (I'm not saying shoryuken is doing it), but I hate when people post rankings or whatever else in order to put down others. Nobody was bragging though. Merely saying, "My school is in the top 50" does not mean your are showboating. For some reason, saying something like that hurts soprano's ego.
Going to a prestigious school isn't something you do for yourself. You do it to please your future employers, who associate these schools with good things. No one is bragging, but you can't blame someone for being proud of attending. For those people saying "top 50 school; prestigious school", who cares? How is it not showboating? The topic didn't ask "what rank is your school," it just asked what college you go to. All you had to do was say the name of your college, but people like you feel there is some reason to go further. What reason is there for even saying my school is in the top 50 other than trying to show off?
