Back on track, Romney is an alright guy I guess. As a serious contender for the presidency, I have doubts but we'll see. We'll see what happens next.

Romney is the definition of a republican president. Which isn't bad, but obviously no democrat will like him. It's basically the swing states with this one because both parties hate the other's candidate.

There are a few reasons I don't want Romney to win.

For one thing, the possibility of the Republicans controlling both houses of Congress, the Supreme Court and the presidency while the House is full of tea party nutters is simply terrifying. The wacky bills that the House regularly passes for no pupose other than making political statements would suddenly have a very real chance of becoming law.

Another reason is that the central issue facing the U.S. right now is how we can improve the economy while reducing the deficit. Romney and his campaign have not released any details as to what programs they would cut that would make a substantial difference. They have no actual plan and they're holding to the extremist viewpoint that taxes should not be raised on anyone to help reduce the deficit.

A third reason is Paul Ryan. The Ryan budget is a total farce if you actually look at the numbers and it's astounding that he's reached the level of notoriety he has because of it. His entire reputation is essentially built on a lie. A few years back he voted for Medicare Part D, real fiscally conservative, eh? The guy is a faker and will do or say anything that gets him power. He's also an ideologue who holds social views I strongly disagree with.

Romney used to be fairly reasonable, but he decided to do a complete 180 on most of his "views" in order to satisfy his party. He's a regular politician - say what people like to hear so that you can get elected.
