Who said I was an atheist? Im agnostic with some nihilistic traits more than anything. Even if God turned out to be real and everything, I still wouldnt worship him because I dont feel that I have a need for him.
You could say I am one of the few people who walk the line between dualism (believe in spirit, souls, God, etc) and materialism (everything that is physical is real and no such thing as souls). I believe in the human spirit and the soul and that is all that is real, but I dont believe that a God had made all of this or put me here. Who knows how I got here, and chances are I will never know in my lifetime so why bother dwelling over it?
Also those words are from one of my teacher's, so they arent mine, but sum up my thoughts pretty much.

That sounds very atheist. You know its possible to be both agnostic and atheist.
In technical terms an athesist does not believe any god exists...and agnostic believes it's possible. Bit of a difference there though.....That sounds very atheist. You know its possible to be both agnostic and atheist.

I know, theres both Agnostic Theism and Agnostic Atheism. You could catergorise me as Agnostic Atheistic, but I still prefer Nihilism. I've never really liked the straight up Atheistic view because like some parts of Theism, it just isnt logical. Both have holes in their arguments, so thats why I'm Agnostic. I can not be sure of his existence, and I believe neither can you for that matter. But you can choose to believe, and I can choose not to believe, but that doesnt mean it doesnt exist, we just cant be sure of his existence. I know that sounds rather contradictory, but it does work.
islam.. I wonder why it wasnt included in the poll?freshgmanProbably because he put number 5...he puts that in ALL his polls. But you are right...he should have included that.

You can not believe in something, but still believe it is possible. That is what I'm like.
That is agnostic. They don't necessarily believe in a god but they believe it's possible. And atheist doesn't believe it's even possible. You can not believe in something, but still believe it is possible. That is what I'm like.

Atheism IS not believing in god.
Atheism IS NOT not believing god is possible.

No, it's completely different from what you said.
[QUOTE="mattyftm"]That is agnostic. They don't necessarily believe in a god but they believe it's possible. And atheist doesn't believe it's even possible. You're labeling strong atheism as all types of atheism. Strong atheists claim to know that a gods do not exist, while weak atheists merely do not believe in gods. I am a weak atheist, personally...You can not believe in something, but still believe it is possible. That is what I'm like.

LJ, yesterday you said that an atheist isn't the best person to ask about religion...well then logically, a christian would not be the best person to ask about atheism, as their opinion will be surely biased. So don't speak about atheism.
I'm an atheist because I don't believe a deity of any kind exists. It doesn't mean it's not possible. Anything that can be fathomed is possible, we just want proof. If I see proof, I'd have no choice but to believe. But it doesn't mean I'm an agnostic. I'm firm in my position. That's basically the only difference between an atheist and an agnostic anyway. Atheists are just more steady when it comes to their beliefs.
