Here are some popular ideas for energy when we finally run out of oil......which is very soon. I for one, think we should adopt Electromagnetic energy. What do you think?

1. Hydrogen

2. Ethanol

3. Solar

4. Nuclear Fusion

5.  Electromagnetic

From the looks of it, ethanol seems to be the next big thing. But why? For one, you have to grow food. So the price will depend on availablity of corn. Corn prices will go up too. I WANT CHEAP CORN! Seriously though, I think the most logical would be electromagnetic propulsion. Why? Because it is, one, infinite; two, because it is clean. They need to put a lot of money into researching electromagnetic propulsion. After that, the next logical would be with Nuclear Fusion. Nuclear Fusion is as well clean. Then I would say...err.... Hydrogen. Then solar. Then ethanol.

But in the world we live in, I would have to say realisticly Hydrogen should be the way to go. Since they already have hydrogen powered cars, it is already a step up. It is pretty much an infinite source, so it would be very cheap. Electromagnetic propulsion and Nuclear Fusion are still far, far away since the government would rather waste money on war.

If I have missed any other ways we can replace oil, please mention them.

Alot of South America runs off ethanol fuel. As far as I know they're doing just fine. Don't know what the prices are like though.

Yeah, they arent very efficient. Also they can be damaged easily.

i don't really care, as long as I'm not spending 2.50 to gas up. We could be running on deer flatulence for all I care.

I work with a guy who farts enough to power a small city. So I think we should get to work on finding out how to use them as power sources.

I think we should rely exclusively on fossil fuels especially heavily polluting ones like coal.  They're great.

Fusion is ideal but no-one knows when/if the technology will produce more energy than it consumes (and is self sustainable).

Yeah, it is definitely still experimental. But we will never know how far we can go with it if we dont put more money and research into it.

Why not nuclear fusion? Should those crazy government scientists figure out an efficient way of producing fusion without aid of a fission reaction, it would be cleaner than 1-3 on your list.

It would be most logical to make a biofuel from hemp. But the government is retarded so we'll probably end up with ethanol made from corn. Of all the plants to make ethanol from why corn? Because it is horribly inefficient which means it will cause mass consumption and keep prices of movement high while making "those tree-huggers" happy. Hydrogen would be the ideal source of energy until we can figure out the free energy thing.

For Cold Fusion and Electromagneticism to work well enough to be a new form of energy, we need to be able to build superconductors that work at room-temperature.  Once we do that, unbelievable amounts of new technology will be made possible, electronics will get smaller, it's possibilities are endless.  It may even be enough to make space travel faster.
