Hi. With Christmas coming up in a couple of days, I am left with the decision of what to buy for my father.

He's 60 year-old, likes books (mainly those non-mainstream), chess and anything that can put his mind at work.

This year I thought I could get him something special, apart from the yearly routine of clothes and similar stuff.

I am open to any suggestion.

Thanks

How about some Ayn Rand...Atlas Shrugged perhaps? Great books for a person who loved books. Then get him Bioshock after!

VMAN, the adults in my family draw names, and I always tend to get my dad. I'd buy him something he'd never get for himself. You know him well enough to know something he'd like, but would never buy. Like last year I got my dad an IPod, he'd never buy one, seemed a bit disappointed at first, but now you can't pry it out of his hands. Just a suggestion.

If he likes music get him another copy of vinyl records he likes that are well kept. My Dad is a similar age, and is a huge fan of The Who, this year I have managed to get him a well kept original copy of "Who's Next" on vinyl as his copy is beat up. Last year I did the same sort of thing but got him an original copy of "Quadrophenia" He loves that sort of thing. If you Dad likes music try that... although you don't have much time and will have to be willingly to spend quite a bit of money.
