I'll just go ahead and explain one day I had to give some context. Once when I was back at UD, my car got impounded, because apparently you can't park on certain streets for an extended period. Technically my mistake, but I had to call the police station to figure that out since they didn't bother to ticket me beforehand.
Leaving my apartment, I could tell this day would miserable all on it's own. The sky was grey, it was a constant drizzle, and it was maybe 40 degrees out, at best. Wonderful southern Ohio weather, as usual.
Anyway I had to ride my bike about 3 miles into downtown Dayton, hang out in the police station, only to find out I had to go to a lot all the way across Dayton. So about 6 miles of biking uphill, I get to this lot, only to find out that they don't take credit cards or checks. So I have to bike another 4-5 miles to a working atm, bike 4-5 miles back, then finally pay like 100 bucks to get my car.
Just as I get in my car, I lose my wallet. Luckily it turned out it was under the seat a week from then, but considering how crappy everything had been so far, I just assumed I had lost it on the street and cancelled my bank and credit cards.
Oh and basically since I figured my day really couldn't get worse, I took the opportunity to tell my mom that I was actually failing most of my classes at UD and that I could possibly lose my scholarship, which was the only way I could afford to go there.
so about 8-9 hours of what should have been a free day were completely wasted on biking around in freezing cold weather, probably screwing up my parents credit, and then telling them I'm failing school. Looking back, I'm actually amazed that I didn't catch any cold, or cry or something.
Not even once that day or any day after did I even consider it. I've made plenty of mistakes in my life, especially on that day, but the point of living is to live. You need to know that utter crappiness to really appreciate your happy moments. Giving up when the cards are down really is just wrong.
