As I'm writing this, I know I'm probably one of the only ones on this forum to have finished the new Harry Potter but the ending has me pretty convinced that the "Deathly Hallows" is the last entry in the series. So, what type of book do you think Rowling will write next? She's incredibly gifted, and I hope she keeps writing fantasy fiction.

I'm pretty sure she has said she'll be writing a crime investigation book.

I'm pretty sure she won't. She's set for life and has no reason to write another book. She may appear from the woodwork in 10 years or something and throw out an average book that most likely lots of people will buy.

Personally I don't think shes that good of a writer, she just happened to write the right book at the right time.

Correct. She has expressed interest in that genre of writing. I don't know what she will be writing next but I am sure she will continue to keep writing. Sure, she has gained her fortune now but that doesn't stop authors from doing what they love the most.

Rowling loves to write. That's why it's her profession. She's not going to stop now just because she's rich. Anyway, she may have written "the right book at the right time", but that doesn't take away from how great she is at her job. She has kept millions of adoring fans content with her work for nearly 10 years with one series, that's impressive, to say the least.

I actually like the genre, as long as its done correctly. I think that she has a talent that could pull something like that off but I guess we just have to wait and see what happens. :)

I'm pretty sure she has indicated that if she were to write more books they would be like an encyclopedia of magical stuff that didnt really get explained well in the books, they will also be for charity like those two hogwarts school books she released several years ago.

You think you're the only one finished?... I finished it yesterday at 8... and I got the book yesterday at noon, and read at a snail's pace, to boot. I bet half the forum is done by now.

And yeah, a mystery-sort of book would be good; the best part about Harry Potter was the suspense, which is a must in thriller-type books.

I was basing that off of what I read in the harry potter series.

maybe if she isn't tied down by some ****** series, she will actually put some thought into the book.

Exactly what I was going to say. She really isn't the greatest writer. Not even close. People just liked what she wrote, parents pushed the books onto their kids because all the other kids were reading it, kids liked it because there was no messy character development to get in the way of the straight forward, if imaginative plot.

Also, apologies for that mind-numbingly long sentence.
