depends on the mood I'm in and the game, for FPS games, almost always have a playlist and/or album(s) lined up going loud. For other games, I can go with the in game music, depends on the score and such, some games have great music. Even for them though, I'll listen to music a lot of the time as well. My world and daily routine revolves around music. I listen to my music while I do most things, gaming included.

If I'm on my laptop and I'm playing a competetitive multiplayer game with friends, I usually listen to heavy bands such as Opeth, BTBAM, etc. just to get me pumped. If I'm playing single player whether on my laptop or on PS3 I just listen to the in-game music.

I don't listen to music while playing. That's why games have their own sounds and music. But I have noticed that sometimes if I listen to something which has a high bpm then I play Left 4 Dead (because that's why I play mostly that requires aiming skill) I tend to see everything in slowmotion. It's weird. I guess the fast song gets my brain used to analyze stuff fast so that's why the game feels slower and I have some amazing reflexes. I mean I don't even realize I'm shooting. My aim just twitches and I shoot. I actually realize it after I get the kill. Or maybe I'm having a good gaming day.

Usually the in game music because I want to be able to hear voice acting as well. If I'm grinding or if I'm playing an FPS, then the same kind of music that I usually listen to

It depends on the game. For a single player game, unless I'm grinding or something, I won't put on music. For non-coop multiplayer, I'll put on whatever I'm into at the time. My preferences vary.

None except maybe in driving/racing games and arcade-type games.

When I'm immersed in a game, I tend to make its world my world. In my world, I don't hear music coming from who knows where. If I'm in a jungle, I expect to hear jungle sounds. If I'm in a battlefield, I expect to hear the sounds of war. If I'm in a haunted house, I expect deadly quiet where every sound is something to be concerned about.

Oh yeah, sometimes I listen to music in racing games. Oh, and Independence FM in GTA on PC
