Shelved books in a library.

It was boring as ****. I stared at milfs and slept a lot.

Riveting work.

Yard assistant at a car auction site, was 15 when I first started. It was good at first seeing how I got paid more than everyone i knew but as the years went on and minimum wage started to rise i found myself earning less in comparison. That and getting in and out of cars that were sitting on a concrete pad on a hot summers day was not very fun.

I did some modeling for events and booths. Hated being on my feet all day in heels and the pervys. At the same time I babysat. I loved that job - only thing I could hate about it was it made me feel old when I couldn't keep up with the energy of the kids I watched.

I was a janitor at a mall....and I loved it :D

My boss was great and the other people I worked with were just as friendly. We were all pretty good friends and everyone got along. Eventually they fired everyone that was a part-timer to save money and simply make the full time people do more work. I actually really enjoyed my job simply because it was easy and I always had money on me through out most of highschool.

My second job as a dishwasher was brutal...our "boss" (Aka the loser who didn't graduate highschool and worked as a dishwasher for 5 years) treated everyone horrible. My friend and I both ended up quitting within 2 weeks of actually being hired.

Now I am just kind of relaxing until I start college 8)

my first job was when I was 14...I worked at a Christmas tree farm for two weeks.

Honestly, I loved it. I love physical labor. I would haul trees out of the farm, cut the stump down as needed, then dump it on the roof of people's cars. It was great. The only bad part was all the pine sap I got covered with, but the owner told me butter cleans it off so I went home, rubbed butter on myself, and...it came off!

my first legal, legit, on-the-payroll job was as a dishwasher, though, when I was 16. It was at a small cooking school that taught cooking lessons to people. it was cool, i got to go out and prep food before classes, talk to the instructors, and wash dishes. They really liked me there, and most of the instructors were all middle-aged moms and moms really tend to love me for some reason. The only bad part was when they cooked mexican food...that stuff is a PITA to clean! Baked cheese on dishes, pans with crusty refried beans...its just awful and stinky.

Oh yea, and cleaning grease traps is one of the most god awful parts of any job ever.

yes, butter massages are very fulfilling and smell great.

seriously, though, I miss those days where I could take any job I want. I worked some fun stuff; Christmas tree farm, dishwasher, construction/demolition, and eventually cook for a few years. I worked with a lot of great people, a lot of different places, and learned a whole lot. I can clean a sink full of dishes in about 10 minutes, fix drywall and build decks, and cook just about anything.

I love my current job, but there is something about being young and mobile and doing whatever it takes to pay the bills as opposed to being in place and working for a living.

Those were fun. The car ones and the promos are the ones I hated. And I totally get you about the whole job vs career thing... as much as I love my career the jobs sure made some great memories.

Dude, bussing is AWESOME as a first time job that requires no experience and no training.

Yeah dude, it can be annoying, but what job isn't? I bussed before, and usually made upwards of $20 an hour. That is not bad at all for a first time job.

Bussing is nice in that, like tips, there is no set ceiling for how much you can potentially make. Especially given the fact that many bussers are lazy and don't want to work, this makes a good busser all that much more valuable to the waiters. Because when the waiters have 10 tables full of people just looking for an excuse to complain about the smallest thing just in order to cheap out on the tip, you have no idea how valuable teamwork among the staff is. Waiters will tip bussers the hell out. All the busser has to do is work his ass off.

Anyway, my first job was as a clerk at a clothing store. Pay was not good, but it was actually a pretty chill and laid back job. Aside from that one time someone took a dump in the dressing room, it was pretty ****ing cool as a first job.

My first job was flood relief, working with chainsaws to clear debris and crap. Hated the supervisor who thought his job was to blame me for his mistakes cos I was 18, until I blew up one day and he realised the puppy had grown teeth.

Helping a law firm move when I was 15. A lot of packing boxes with books, then moving said boxes. It was a nice place and the people were nice, so not many complaints really aside from the obvious monotany of packing and moving boxes every day.

After leaving secondary school I worked voluntary for another school, doing general, random stuff. Reprographics, design leaflets and tickets with desktop publisher and assist in some of the school faculties.

I was 16-17 in that job so not much older then the kids. I remember I used to have lots of girlies chatting me up :P I used to get shy and hide in one of the rooms. Also it felt really wrong for some reason, even though I was not much older it just didn't feel like the time and place. I remember being at school myself and some of the girls had this crush on a new PE teacher. He delt with it by being funny and nice, but keeping things short and sweet, keeping his distance and making sure they didn't corner him. I did the same!

I was a tutor at some dirty old bad kids school for a summer when I was 15. The kids were bad. The teachers didn't care. It was very dark and dirty. I spent most of the time moving school supplies instead of tutoring. That place ruined my summer that year. Worst. Job. Ever.

I worked in a resturant here in town when I was 14-15. It made me realize that I am not that good with customers. I got fired for getting pissed and telling a customer where to shove it. I really havent had to deal with the general public since and thats been 9 years ago. Hopefully never will.

Wal-Mart was my first job. I was 18 for a month while there and then turned 19. I worked as an ICS Associate the entire time, which was just being on the floor to stock and straighten the shelves plus giving assistance to customers.

What I hated most was customers. People just are not considerate. Working the closing shift gave me a few extra things to hate because I had to stay until most every department was "zoned" to the closing managers' satisfaction so I didn't always leave on time, though sometimes I was able to leave early as well. It wasn't completely terrible but definitely not a dream job. I was very lucky because there were, for the most part, really fun people that I closed with so at the end of the night when we're all in the same area, it was usually a pretty good time talking and whatnot.

I think I'd give it a 5/10. Pay was decent and assuming you can control yourself around people making you angry, it's tolerable. But again, I had the luck of rather fun people to close with.

Tesco supermarket when I was 17. I despised it.

I just hated dealing with rude customers, which sadly was the vast majority of them. They show no common courtesy whatsoever.

Well the restaurant where im bussing isnt really fun, its a 4 star restaurant so you need to be very attentive and all that stuff. Im not lazy, in fact Im one of the best out there and I have been bussing there for 3 years, customers hand me tips personally instead of the chekcs and the other waiter gives me 50% instead of 20%.. but the problem is the communication because we get blamed if we dont inform the owner that we need this and that and we would get walk-ins at 9-10pm and sometimes I get home at midnight. The best part is when i take some liquor from the bar, and get drunk while bussing...time goes by fast.

I worked in a factory. I pulled picture frames off an assembly line, carved excess plastic from the frames and then put them in a box for shipping. The factory was smoke-filled, the employees treated me like ****, and they only gave me 15 minutes lunch break, which I think is illegal. I quit pretty quickly, but it was a good life lesson.

I worked at a grocery store. I didn't hate it because I got a steady paycheck for the first time in my life and could actually afford stuff.

Now when I'm without a job I hate it.

I did Junior Achievement in high school, but my first real job was in the post office in college. Mostly mail sorting and metering of bulk mail, but honestly, I didn't mind it. Was brainless work that gave me time to think about papers I was working on and stuff. Oh, sometimes the metering machine would chew up envelopes, that was a pain in the ass, but overall it was brainless work that was well-suited for someone adapting to college.

I actually liked my first job for the most part. I worked for a company called "Great Steak and Potato" in the local mall. Guys there taught me how to do fun things like juggle spatulas while I was working the grill for the customers as part of the entertainment portion. I also got free food and drinks and had plenty of places like video game stores to visit during my breaks. About the only thing that I didn't like was the pay, but that was to be expected for a first time job in the food service industry.
