If it has, a Mod can lock it.
But what was your favorite movie of 2009?

For me, Inglorious Basterds, with Avatar at a close second.
i still need to see moon and a serious man, but so far its where the wild things are. LoG-Sacrament
Where the Wild Things Are was so terrible in my opinion. I was very disappointed in it. :( Moon is fantastic though, it definitely on my top 5 of 09.

what didnt you like about it?Bad jokes, didn't get the moral of the story, everything seems very awkwardly strange (like sleeping in a pile, the first 10 seconds of the movie was even weird), terrible script (everything the say is so weird, like "I'm sorry for stepping on your head", ect. The visuals were very good though.

you do realise that he was going for "wierd", right? the whole movie was (like the book) a psychoanalysis of a child's temper tantrum. a surreal style was appropriate.[QUOTE="RobboElRobbo"][QUOTE="LoG-Sacrament"] what didnt you like about it?LoG-Sacrament

i can live with that assessment.Moon with The Hurt Locker being a very close second. I might change my mind after repeated viewings however.
My favorite was "Watchmen".Grim_Heaper94
I saw the director's cut and it was actually really good, much better than the theatrical version. I still prefer the comic, but considering how difficult the source material seems to be to adapt and the director, Watchmen was much better than I ever could have expected.

Yes what he said. :P
I thought the same thing. I kept thinking Up was going to have immature humor and whatnot but I was really surprised when it didn't. It focused on a more emotional and storyline then humor. It had some funny stuff but it couldn't be considered a full fledged comedy. I found some of the scenes to be very sad.
I will admit this though...
I cried everytime I saw the beginning. :?
It's annoying because I don't want to say Avatar but the truth is, it might well be Avatar.
I don't want to say it because as a film, it was the most pradictable thing i've ever seen in my life. It was so predictable it was almost like Deja-vu, I knew how it was going to begin, how it would end from that single trailer and the movie title alone. While watching the film it felt like I was having premonitions (I played the lottery that day).
But, somehow, that film captured some form of magic and left a lasting impression, even though I wasn't opening myself out to it. That deserves respect where respesct is due.
Plus, I like movies that are full on fantasy. It had the right amount of sci-fi to let you know how things worked, but without going into too much detail over everything so that your focus was taken off the story or the characters while you try to comprehend what was going on. I didn't have to explain it to my blond girlfriend so that says it all. I mean a sci-fi that you don't have to explain to a blond girl, WHAT-THE-HELL!
