I can't really say which is the one best film of 09 but out of the films I've seen I've really enjoyed Inglorious Basterds, Moon, Avatar, and District 9. There are still others I plan to see eventually like The Hurt Locker, Up in the Air, In the Loop, (500) Days of Summer, etc.
A childs film? Far from it.[QUOTE="SaintLeonidas"][QUOTE="Hackers90"]1.Avatar 2.Terminator Salvation I never saw District 9 in 2009 but am going to buy it on blu-ray. Up to me looks a childs film so I'll avoid that one!Crazyguy105
Yes what he said. :P
I thought the same thing. I kept thinking Up was going to have immature humor and whatnot but I was really surprised when it didn't. It focused on a more emotional and storyline then humor. It had some funny stuff but it couldn't be considered a full fledged comedy. I found some of the scenes to be very sad.
I will admit this though...
I cried everytime I saw the beginning. :?
Hmmm, it seems alot of people are saying Up is their favourite film of 2009. I may have to check it out. But I still think it looks childish, I mean its about an old man that attaches balloons to his house -_-[QUOTE="Crazyguy105"][QUOTE="SaintLeonidas"] A childs film? Far from it.Hackers90

All you need to do is watch the first ten minutes, a quick little montage of the old mans life and instantly realize that this film is actually targeted more towards adults than children. I highly recommend you give it a chance.Hmmm, it seems alot of people are saying Up is their favourite film of 2009. I may have to check it out. SaintLeonidas
I think it is their best film by far. It is much more consistant than Wall-E which I thought had a weaker second half. Up though stayed pretty consistant with it's themes and characters. The dogs got a bit silly though but it was still a very good film. Not as good as Mary & Max, but still this is the first time in years where all the potential best animated feature oscar could go to anyone and I would be happy. This has been a great for animated films.

Oh i did especially Dug, but when they got in planes that got a bit silly. I also liked Christopher plummer's voicing Charles Muntz.
James Cameron is gonna crap himself when District 9 wins film of the year and Avatar doesnt,akuma_od3
Uh, what? Neither film will win Best Picture (if that's what you're referring to).

I get the feeling that James Cameron might get another Oscar for Avatar. I don't know why, I just have a strange feeling. Or maybe that is just diarrhea:o I hope it doesnt though. Both are good films but there are much better films.

or maybe its just the the acedemy loves to kiss james cameron's butt :P
i still say IMHO that district 9 deserves to get nominated (maybe win) best picture, i just loved it so much. it was a perfect blend of action, character development, writing, comedy, social commentary, special FX. i enjoyed it more then every movie ive seen this year
Its between Up and the Hangover for me. I really didn't care for Avatar, but watching dances with smurfs before hand probably ruined it for me (well that...and the fact the plot was a total rip off of Pocahontus :P). I haven't seen the hurtlocker though, that seems to be getting a lot of shouts...

He will get a nomination, too much praise and admiration for Avatar for him not to, but I don't see him winning.Either Zombieland or The Hangover.. Ohh i wanna see The Road, i just finished reading the book a couple hours ago.
The Hurt Locker. It's one of the best war films this...er last decade? :P
I still need to see Avatar and Inglourious Basterds, but I doubt those films will change my mind.
The Hurt Locker wasn't only my favorite film of 2009, but I think it might be my favorite film of the entire decade. JML897Hated that movie, just more American Marine "BOOYA" and 'War is Hell' crap. Ugh! Don't get me started on that stuff, it makes me want to kill something that someone loves.
