It's not that Southern schools care more, it's just that ACT is more of the norm here.
Umm... 2000 SAT, 31 ACT, 4.1 in high school. I was a National Merit Finalist as well.
It doesn't mean hardly anything now that I'm in college, so please begrudge me the few opportunities I have to mention it now. :P
"It doesn't mean hardly anything." 31 eh? ;)B05T0N
Yeah. I honestly think I could have done better... the last time I took it was my junior year, but when I found out I was national merit I didn't have to bother with the ACT anymore. I'm curious as to how I would have done if I took it again.

I meant 'It doesn't mean hardly anything' is pretty excessive :PB05T0N
It's kind of true, though, you know? I don't pay a dime for college (I actually get a $1200 refund check every semester), so it means a lot in that sense. But everyone cared SO MUCH in high school... your test scores were like a status symbol... but you get to college and NO ONE cares, you know? It's just not that important now.

so true.
It ultimately matters what your grades are like in college, what school you went to, and MOST IMPORTANTLY your actual skills. Social, technical, you know real job skills. That seems to elude a lot of high schoolers. Thats what schools need to preach, not numbers.
Not even where you went matters that much except for the ability to get ridiculously high end jobs out of college in specific fields.B05T0N

I go to a state college in Mississippi.
I'm not sure if that's me. I'm an anthropology major, and I could honestly see me doing research or something of the like... that may not be a ridiculously high end job, but it's what would make me the happiest.
*retreats back to ideal world*
Boston - I'm not telling. :P Sorry, I know it's silly... I'm open with sharing some public information on the net but not all of it.
I get the refund check through excess scholarship money.
dont take SAT and dont take GPA,
asking people about their IQ, or any test scores in this forum is absolutely pointless as 90% of everyone here are apparently geniuses
I had a 3.73 at the end of last year but so far this year I have over a 4.0 weighted so it should go up a bit
as for the SAT I'm taking it in March
Bwah haha high school? I had so much more to worry about other than school! Like sports (its ironic)
2.7G.P.A I believe
27 ACT
1510 SAT (Old test)
I never took the new test 2006 was a year in which they gave you the choice I think.
