I'm glad I'm really more of a gen X'er (born in 1982). Things like skinny jeans make me do a facepalm.

Generation Y is pathetic and won't be remembered for anything.

I am Gen Y (born 1994). But the only things I can relate to in Gen Y is skinny jeans. My favourite band was popular in the 80's.

TC, being born in 1981 I don't consider myself to be part of this generation, but the last.

This generation is pathetic. All they care about and think it's ''COOOOOOOOL'' is drinking alcohol, smoking, using drugs. Oh and discrimination! This generation is slow-witted. If someone looks different, that person is called a weirdo or stupid. Of course there are people who are not discriminating or drinking like 40 year old alcoholics and they deserve more respect than those other ''cool tough guys''but still.

Let me rephrase that for you. "I have no friends and I'm going to bash on people who do have friends to make myself feel better".

Wow you really have a weird view of my generation. I was born in 1992 and I can tell that most of the people of my generation are not drug addicts, smokers or alcoholics and most of us are very tolerant of other people, of course then again thats just in Ireland so maybe its different in America.

We'll be remembered for what MTV is more than likely. There's always been diversity, but rock is still what people think when you say "70's".

I'm not saying that everyone is addicted to it. I gladly have some beer with friends to relax a little bit but not that much that I don't remember what happened yesterday. I simply don't find drinking as primar thing when have some free time that's why it kinda annoys me when people get drunk for no reason and say it's cool. Just because I think so doesn't mean I have no friends you know.... o.O There are many things to do beside of sitting on a bench outside and drinking vodka the whole day.

Increasing open-mindedness and interconnectedness.

Ecumenical Dialouge? Previous generations have been ambivalent towards it. But my generation seems much more open to it.

I'm 33. I experienced my teenage years during the grunge explosion. So, I'm obviously looking at this from the outside-in.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of modern teens is 'Cell phone'. Seriously. Modern teens are constantly in touch with their friends. Sure we had telephone and beepers back in my day, but if you were out of the house you were out of touch. Which was great, and why I refuse to own a cell phone even today.

It becomes a problem when they can't seperate themselves from their technological connections for any length of time: driving, at the movie theater, in a classy resturaunt, etc., they're always 'on'.

I'm going with what previous generations complain about from the current generation. When you hear someone from a generation before this one they always complain about how lazy kids are these days.

Bloodaxe726

This is true, too. All but a few kids in my neighborhood are obese or getting there. I'm talking even the elementary school children. But hell they won't do anything but sit on the PC/Playstation/Cell Phone.

I have to say this, too: You guys suck at the English language. Not you people personally, but your generation in general. My ex-wife was a high school teacher and I used to help her grade papers, and I can't figure out how most of those kids even made it to high school.

How can generation Y be thought of yet when we/they/all/whatever has not reached adulthood...wait til Y gets to 60's..then you can say it. Probably as the first internet generation(from the first day the person remembers having a computer in their house etc. etc...music will be known for hip pop..tv will be known for family guy(unluckily :()...HD gaming and tv...and that's about it, we will see how innovative Y is...if any :O

Well, no. The first internet generation was a bunch of college kids in 1969. I myself have been online since the mid-80's.

Generation Y

First off let me clarify

No people born from 1960 to 1980

If you graduated High School in the 90's, NOT YOU

If Nirvana was a new band when you were in middle or high school NOT YOU

Though you can give you opinion on us.

Ok i'm talking about this current generation, of skinny jean wearing, screamo loving, twilight,Anime generation, internet generation Kanye/little wayne, Judd Apatow movie lovinng kids. What do you think this generation will be remembered for? Do you think it'll be more mediocre or great?

The I'm giving the small idea, you guys bring the big ideas. It's a discussion, please no terrible arguments. I don't want anyone getting suspended/banned.

Also forgot to clarify, if you guys feel that you aren't lumped in with the masses, then that's ok. This is about the mass of whats popular of teens today the "fit in" masses.

DazedDarkness
Easy, we're the digital generation.
