The one sentence answer is that the U.S. Constitution lays out the basic structure of government as well as the limitations on its powers (e.g., the First Amendment right to free speech). If you want to hear more about separation of powers, fundamental rights, incorporation of federal rights to the states, the state/federal government nexus (aka federalism), or some other constitutional topic, I can try to give a brief explanation of a couple topics. Don't ask me for any detail about criminal law though - search and seizure, speedy trials, and double jeopardy are out of my purview. My harsh words at the beginning aside, I'm glad you're taking an interest, since a lot of people really aren't interested in the government any more. lynxed
This basically...
Our constitution was put in place NOT to give this government any powers. It only restricts the powers of the government so that they cannot usurp the people and abuse our rights. Unfortunately the government (all 3 branches) have been whittling away at the constitution poking holes in it where they so desire in an attempt to grant themselves more sweeping powers. I personally would like to see the constitution re-empowered and restored to its original vision, bringing back checks and balances. Mind you that I am not saying that Amendments shouldn't be kept, except the 16th amendment in particular and others that allow the FED (private banking cartel) the right to print our money.
Well, it's either
In RPGs: a measure of how "tough" one's character is. What exactly this means varies from RPG to RPG. Often it will affect health and/or defense stats.
IRL (and please, PLEASE tell me you knew this one already. Lie if you have to): It's a document that definesrestricts the powers of a government. For example, the United States Consitution divides the power amongst three different branches of government and grants certain rights to the people which may not at any time be abridged by the government.
I used to play rpgs back in PS and Ps2 ages. No so much though, Last rpg I played was Valkyria Chronicles. And i never heard the term "Constitution" in any of the rpgs I've played.Cookigaki*facepalm*
