From what i understand of Energy drinks/soda, most of the stuff they contain your body burns off relatively quickly, thus the energy boost you receive, as you body is burning up all the ingredients. Aside from the calories i dont think it does any permanent damage, whereas Alcohol, even in moderation, causes damage to the liver over the long term, and in the short term kills brain cells en masse.Tolwan
you're just going to die anyways, so you mine as well put in your body whatever you want ,oh and, are you in the military?

Yea... and energy drinks have limits how many you can drink in a day (usually 3-5). There is no limits for beer.

Of course you can, you can also hang yourself if you want or cut you veins etc.
Hmmmm lets see...
Energy Drink:
HF Corn Syrup
High levels of Caffeine
"Vitamins"
Loads of preservatives
Beer:
Water
Alcohol
Protein
Carbohydrates
A little bit of gluten
Ya, beer is hands down better for you. Not to mention a couple beers a day is as beneficial for you as a glass of red wine (beer doesnt have tannins, but its almost as good I mean).
Furthermore, people have been drinking beer for over 4000 years so, ya, I'd say beer is better for you.
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet but home come on some energy drinks it says not to mix it with alcahol but now hey have "rock star energy coolers" at the liquor store? Strange?Nwordjohn
the reason is because caffeine is a stimulant, and alcohol is a depressant.
When you consume one or the other, they make you wired or tired respectively. When you mix the two, however, your heart goes on a rollercoaster of working really fast to working really slow. Consume enough of either, mix in someone who has a heart condition, and death will occur. It has happened enough times that they now require a warning on energy drink labels.
As for the coolers, well...I dont really know. I think the amount of alcohol in those is low enough and they state to drink in moderation that they can legally get away with it. Drink at your own risk, you might say.
I'd rather have beer instead of having my body hate me for drinking horrible energy drinks.Pittfan666
LOL ooooh the irony.

I highly doubt that Beer is worse for you then something like Redbull.. A drink that has numerous amounts of sugar and caffiene.

Not to mention one of the key ingredients in most energy drinks is processed and refined BULL BILE!?
No offense, but I think people whoare sayin energy drinks are worse are people who drink beer and want to make themselves feel better . Both are bad but beer is worsePsychosisrain
Well then I think there is only one way to scientifically break this down. Choose a beer, choose an energy drink. List all ingredients in both, list nutritional information and go from there. Anything else is just flip flopping. I'm at work though so I'm already too lazy to do the leg work.

YEah, weird because I see some energy drink mixed with alcohol, I think it's called "tilt" it has both coffee and alcohol, I wonder what that does for you!
I dont think either are unhealthy not if you drink here and there. But if you drink a lot obviously it can cause liver damage and many other issues down the road. If you drink too many energy drinks you can get a heart attack. Too much of anything can hurt you.xscrapzx
And with that, I think this thread can come to a close :D
Everything in moderation, thats the golden rule.
Cocaine? Sure, just do it in moderation
Beer? Sure, just do it in moderation
etc, etc

A little alchohol everyday is in no way bad for your health.. in fact, it is actually beneficial. An energy drink once a day has no benefits, and it's questionable ingredients are sketchy. From a health standpoint, beer is healthier than energy drinks.

I know, I am just being a jerk :P My apologies.
But seriously...do you think people drink beer to make themselves feel better? I, and everyone I know, drinks beer because it tastes good.
Have you ever had a belgian Chimay Grand Reserve?
An Anderson Valley India Pale Ale?
Or what about a Murphy's Stout?
How about a nice Fat Tire?
Perhaps a beautiful Delerium Tremons?
My friend...beer has been a staple of human kind for over 4000 years. While it has been bastardized and abused by thousands, it is enjoyed by millions in respectful manners. To criticize those that consume beer is to criticize some of the greatest people in the history of the world.

I'm sure the majority of people drink beer because they like the taste, and just want to have a good time, I never had beer because i'm only 18.

Or how bout the fact that every scientifical study that has merit has shown that moderate beer consumption is actually very good for you.. Then at the same time every study on energy drink like red bull shows that it is awful.. It is loaded with unhealthy amounts of sugar, caffiene and other things.

Yep. It is just that people like Psychosisrain cannot separate alcohol consumption from irresponsible drinking and drunkedness. Not everyone who drinks is an obnoxious fratboy or DWI redneck.

"For what it's worth, there have been deaths reported, though not many, because of caffeine overdose from these drinks. At the very least, this should at least get energy drink consumers to drink in moderation until the FDA has had time to fully study the effects of energy drinks and the ingredients in them."
So going by sheer number of deaths caused, beer is the more dangerous beverage. But most importantly of all (and it's been said several times already), moderation is the key.
I've been drinking one redbull a day for 3 days straight, thats not harmful, RIGHT?!!!Mythbuster4ever

In his defense, however, reckless alcohol consumption does cause a lot of problems. I had a family member who had a drinking problem and still does a little bit to this day. Still, its not fair to generalize that alcohol is "bad" or "evil" based solely on some bad apples. To me, good alcohol is as important as a good food...most people drink wine with a good meal, but I always ask for their beer menu lol just to bug the waiters.
My opinion is that, in moderation, beer is better for you than an energy drink.
in bulk? I'd take my chances with the energy drinks.
This is an issue of moderation really, but energy drinks are more likely to cause problems such as insomnia or heart palpitations in moderation than moderate beer drinking.
