In BC.. yeah.. bud's everywhere, easy to come by (not my kind of thing, though apparently we have the best in the world)

I'm hitting 21, and I avoided everything in high school cause of sports (you get caught you're done, sort of deal).  When it comes to drinking, I'll get drunk or buzzed if I'm at a club or house party or something, it helps me mellow out.. but then again I feel more reckless (contradictory, I know).

The morning isn't too good either.

Drinking is not cool.  Blazing... I don't agree with it, but if you do it, don't do it to be cool. (There's your drug free message... now where's my commercial?)

It doesn't have to be about fitting in. It can be about having a great time, especially with good friends.

I enjoy smoking a little pot here and there, and I only do it alone.  I get major paranoia and insecurity around people when I smoke and constantly have to remind myself not to do it.  But when I'm alone and can just chill, listen to music, draw and trip out to a game I love it.  It increases creativity.  And the great thing is, different pot has different highs.

Nothing wrong with a little toke here and there.

I think what entices people to drink (especially underage drinking) is the fact that everyone says you're not supposed to do it. Id someone tells you not to, your first reaction is to go ahead and do it anyway. It's the rush of not getting caught that makes you want to do it again and again.  Once you're of age you can do whatever you want, and I think that's the reason it loses its appeal.  At least that was the case for me.  As far as doing pot, never did it because I was affraid getting my ass whupped from my parents. At least with the drinking, I always crashed at my friend's house for the weekend.

  I was a lazy student and that's why I didn't go to college. I won't do the work. I would just blow it off, just like high school. I'm not saying don't attend college, but many people who do and graduate outstanding still end up working dead end minimum wage jobs. So college doesn't guarantee anything. Obviously you must be optimistic and try, but the fact is that the chances of success in your field of study are lower than higher. Only so many positions available and a lot of qualified people.

  People get into smoking because they weren't bright kids. It's the same with the alcohol. If you don't get into that stuff when you're a young dumbass influential hipster you'll never get into it. When you grow up you won't want it because you won't have an attatchment to it nor desire for it. You won't know what you are missing and you won't care.

Most people don't do it to fit in, they do it because of what the drugs do to you.

Smoking weed and drinking is just plain fun, it enhances the experience of whatever you happen to be doing, and if you're at a party it makes it like 20 times easier to get in some girl's pants (which is one of the top wants of any teenaged boy).

Only people who are real losers do drugs to fit in.  And a lot of potheads and stoners actually don't fit in, if you haven't noticed.

Whats the big deal about drink anyway i started drinking at 12 in France you only have to be 14 to legally drink there so i don't really see a big deal with it if you drink in moderation.Hitman_KyeZ

I don't smoke, take drugs or drink. There is no need to. I don't however look down on people who smoke weed occasionally, drink occasionally (but don't get drunk), or smoke cigarettes outside or in their own home. Let other people do what they like, as long as it doesn't harm other people physically or mentally.. that's how I like to think. However, what I can't stand are people who take excessive amounts of drugs, smoke heavily near me or others, or get drunk on alcohol. It's dangerous to others and it's anti-social.cjek

  Your drinking water is full of chemicals that aren't good for organics. So are over the counter foods and pharmaceuticals. Don't forget all the emitions that are produced by factorys and cars.

  I don't smoke and I don't care for the habit, but you're complaint is like complaing about people whom use flashlights while you're standing below 100 high beam searchlights. Or complaiging about dirty people while you're in a cole mine.

I really dont know. I find it pitiful that people resort to that stuff to fit in, what honestly makes it so cool. Most of those people dont finish high school, or go to university and end up makign a low cut salary, is that also cool, wasting your life becasue for 4 years you wanted to be cool?non_insane

I can. People drink and do drugs BECAUSE IT IS FUN AND THEY ENJOY IT. Being cool is just an awesome side effect.

At the school age...yes, drugs and alcohol are started to fit in. You don't have any experience prior to the first use.  Why do YOU think they start?

Hiding addictions comes about much later in life....not in school.  Usually they use and drink with buds.
