No offense if you're a lil wayne fan, but what's the deal with his popularity lately?

I'm not being a smart-ass, I seriously want to know why he's so huge right now. I don't hear anything in his music that comes even close to explaining his popularity level.

He is very lyrical. He often uses references to pop culture, history, historical figures, figurative langauge, etc. It is hard to tell with his current release of "Mass-Media" tracks. But find one on a mixtape or on youtube and you will be surprised at how he uses his lyrics. However, it is sometimes very difficult to understand or reference what he is saying.clayron

Honestly I didn't like him either. But he got very good over time. Kanye's still the best in my book :P.

Part of it is the personality he brings to performances. Like, I loved watching his VMA performance because he was so it. You can tell he likes performing for the crowd.

Another part of it is that he is very lyrically skilled from the mainstream stuff to the mixtapes. And he has some great beats out there. I do think it's kinda funny that he JUST blew up so much now. He's not new lol

He has little talent but people like him so his albums sell. And good rap does take talent, just because a song has loud guitar thrashing in it(which is awesome) doesn't make it musical.waitaseck

Maybe so, but a large majority of metal is plain confusing, it's like they're constantly stabbing a dead animal. The lyrics sometimes scare me. I don't know how I can ever consider that to be good music, although it may be music. You really have to be open minded when it comes to music, no genre is the best. Rap is not all complete trash, not all mainstream in full of untalented musicians, although underground rap is better.

Well most popular because he's music is pretty easy listen too if your not really big on rap.

He's lyrics are pretty simple and easy to understand with his flow and decent beat he in the became in the spotlight. As alot of people say he's music makes you feel gangster. I guess that's the another reason too.

He's decent at best really.

Did you see my (BTW I know he can't) line? I am aware he died. I'm also aware that Lil Wayne isn't the best guitar player, but it's not fair to compare friggin Lil Wayne to a great guitar player. I also never said it was harder to become a a great rapper than a great guitar player. I was simply pointing out that you should give Wayne some credit for at least trying to incoorperate different music techniques into his songs.

No it won't because you can't compare the two. Who compares rappers with guitar players. I mean seriously.

There is nothing good about lil wayne, hes just an untalented rapper (not that there are many talented rappers)stedtfeld
