Neon Genesis Evangelion is good and tripped out, though it isn't the best. I'm so jaded, I can't really think of any anime that I really like anymore. They have that 'slowness' about them.

End of Evangelion always has that reputation of being surreal, though it isn't the most surreal. Surreal would be When They Cry. That's some good tripped up ****. Also, rent Paranoia Agent if you can. And FLCL, ok i'll stop now

lemme see... Full metal Alchemist, Trigun or Cowboy Bebop... none on that list strikes me as "the best" altho some of them are quite good

I always pronounced it "fa-lick-ka-lee" but in any case, I like it for its awesome soundtrack and completely random blend of lighthearted and dark humor.

Watch FLCL. All the episodes together equal a little over 2 hours but its time well spent.

any of these : Baccano!, code geass, cowboy bebop, death knote, full metal panic ( and spinoffs, you can skip the comedy one), ghost in the shell, kino no tabi, real drive, rurouni kenshi, samurai champloo, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Trigun.. thats alphabetical order, if you want my reccomendation of which to watch first, id say rurouni kenshin then cowboy bebop.

dbz is to anime as metallica is to thrash metal.. the most commercial and mainstream of the lot.. not close to the best.. but easy to get into and for a lot of people the first anime ( band) they watched ( listened to ) and a gateway of sorts into better things
