Pretty much any movie involving time travel automatically doesn't make sense, but Darko takes nonsensical plot holes to the next level. So, the official explanation says...

...Being mysterious and vague does not make a movie good. I have a feeling that most of the people who really like DonnieDarko also think that the silly everything-but-the-kitchen-sink plot of the Metal Gear Solid series is amazing. I don't dig "weird just for the sake of weird" story lines. My problem with Darko isn't merely that there are plot contrivances; it's that there are far, far too many of them.

I don't think the goal of the movie was to seem pretentious. It wasn't good because it was trying to be weird. It was good because it was different, it was original. Sure, parts don't make sense to most...but that's not the point. The point is things don't have to make sense. It was well made...you can atleast give it that if you didn't enjoy the plot.

I've have seen a lot of good movie, I would have to say American Gangster.Private_Adam

also love the other bournes, casino royale and fight club, and so so so many more.

I'd say: Braveheart, Dark Knight, Shawshank Redemption, Requiem for a Dream, The Prestige, City of God, A Clockwork Orange, Leon, American History X, Pulp Fiction, Forrest Gump, Edward Scissorhands, American Beauty, Donnie Darko, LOTR, Gladiator, American Psycho, Children of Men, Princess Bride, Once, V for Vendetta, Stardust, The Count of MOnte Cristo, and In Bruges

These are just movies I like, not what I think are best.

Greatest Sci-Fi movies ever and inspired a whole generation of games, movies and books.

Bicycle thief, 8 1/2, La Strada, any Ingmar Bergman film especially fanny and Alexander, Rashomon, 400 blows and The Thrid Man

I doubt most of you know any of these movies, but they are the best I have ever seen.
