What's the best state in the U.S.?

State your favorite U.S. state and why you like it:

For me it's Oregon.

You don't have to pump your own gas (every gas station has little assistant dudes).

No sales tax (just higher property taxes)

Most badass governor in the Union (Kulongoski)

Lol, I don't know because I'm from the UK. But I've been in Florida and it's nice but it's way too hot especially in the Summer! California looks interesting, I would like to visit there. I wish I could ride the Harley Davidson on a long straight road on the desert with beautiful orange mountains!

Well I really like WI other than the weather. We get some of the worst of everything.

Downtown Madison was rated the best place to live in the U.S. by I think Men's Health also so there's some facts.

Interesting. Portland, OR is supposed to be the most sustaibable metropolis in the country, along with Bethesda, MD and Seattle.

California imo. I don't live in the states so I don't really have a bias to them really. I was recently in Oregon and I gotta say...it's like being in the deep south unless you are in portland...thats the impression I got from the people I talked to at least...Ace6301

We liberals have our hideouts. Ashland, for one. There's also Eugene, Corvallis, and Salem. Outside those city limits, the high school dropout rate shoots up, and the counties become blood red Republican bastions.
