Closeset I've come to dying is when I was on an airplane flying from San Fran to Atlanta. Something felt weird on the plan because the air fans above the seats kept shutting on and off, and the plane would kind of suddenly speed up, and the seatbelt sign hadn't been turned off yet. About 20 minutes into the flight the captain comes on the intercom and says "well folks we're going to have to turn around back to San Francisco because we're currently experiencing electrical problems with the plane". Now, while he said that calmly as if it was normal, the entire plane just went dead silent. Its funny looking back, the guy sitting next to me even turned in disbelief and asked "wait, did he just say electrical problems?". But yeah, that was the scariest 20 minutes of my life (especially when the plane started dumping fuel). Turns out the electrical problem was with one of the engines in that they couldn't control how much thrust it was using or something which was why the plane kept speeding up and down.
As for other close calls, there was this time me and my dad were driving on the interstate in Idaho after a big snowstorm and this semi truck next us hit ice and started swerving, and then we started swerving a little bit after that. And then there was this time my extended family decided to go mountain biking, and half the trail was comprised of maybe three feet max of ground with a cliff on one side and a couple thousand foot drop on the other.
Reminds me of when I went to Alaska leaving from Atlanta the plane was having issues and we had to sit in a hot, uncooled plane being fixed for 40 minutes... then still fly in it knowing it just had some problems that were fixed in a side taxiway.Closeset I've come to dying is when I was on an airplane flying from San Fran to Atlanta. ^^^The plane thing would scare the hell out of me.BreesyLol, I'm really not that bother by plane technical problems really though, I know how far a plane can glide with absolutely no power so I wouldn't be that freaked out if the whole thing died.

Yeah, that's kind of what happened with my plane. We ended up waiting five hours in the airport for them to fix it. The thing that had all the passengers pissed off was that word got around that the reason it was taking so long was that they were flying in the part they needed to fix the plane, when they could have just borrowed it from another airline and gotten everything fixed in 30 minutes. And like you I wasn't crazy about flying on a plane that I knew had just had engine problems.
Oh yeah, I forgot, I was also on a plane where we had to land during a big thunderstorm. If you've never had the experience of flying through a thunderstorm before, let me tell you, it beats the hell out of Six Flags.
Hm, talking about all these bad plane experiences really isn't good for me considering I'm going to be flying to Paris this Saturday (I fly a lot).
But while we're on the topic, I remember talking to my electronics teacher in high school about the first flight I posted about. He then told me about two flights he had been on. In one the plane hit an air pocked and fell straight down a few hundred feet, resulting in one flight attendant getting thrown onto the ceiling and then getting to meet the floor again several seconds later. And in another flight he was on there was a fire in the cockpit. So after hearing those stories I decided my experience was pretty mild :P
My right arm once ended up going through a glass pane and cut a chunk of flesh from my wrist, (Still have a fairly large scar) which was roughly 1 cm from tearing apart the main vein along my arm. So yeah, if my arm was twisted just a few degrees to the left when it hit the glass I might not be here right now.
I took a bad wipeout while sking, did a couple of flips but only broke my leg.michael_1234576
About the same happend to me, I was sking to but hit a bump, flew pretty far and made a couple filp. I came down on my ass. I had nothing serious, but if I was sking a little harder I would have hit a tree or if the flips turned out wrong I could have landed on my head. I only had pain in my thumb luckily.
I nearly got ran over by a train wen i was about 3 or 4 if someone hadn't grabbed me and pulled me back up to the stand i wouldn't be here right now.
Well the first year of my life there were two times I should have been dead.....
One was the moment I was born I apparently was losing way too much blood or something not exactly sure. But they told my parents I probably would not survive...well I proved them wrong! :D
My mom was told she could not have kids.....proved them wrong again! :D
Then I was diagnosed with some life threatening desease when I was like 8 months old. Well when I went in to see a specialist they found nothing wrong with me!
I must be a miracle baby or something!
