I mean, just look at it! It took five keys of that space!..... If they made it small a narmal sized like all other keys, they would add more keys on your keyboard, right?.... *sighs*:)

Look at how many times you used it just to type that one statement, though.spazzx625Really?Idojustfinewithoutit
It's so you can reach it from any position on the board when touch-typing.
That's it, that's the reason. End of thread.

What do you mean, End of Thread?!... I need more answers to that!:D
Look at how many times you used it just to type that one statement, though.spazzx625So it's a supply and demand type of thing huh? :P
[QUOTE="double_decker"][QUOTE="spazzx625"]Look at how many times you used it just to type that one statement, though.spazzx625So it's a supply and demand type of thing huh? :P Yeah...That's why the right 'shift' key is bigger, too :P
I never noticed that before... It is bigger.... Bigger then the left 'shift' key... But I never use the right 'shift'.... What kind of madness is that?!
There's a perfectly logical reason as to why the space bar is longer. To quote Tolkien,
One key to rule them all
One key to find them
One key to bring them all together;
and in the darkness, bind them.
So both your thumbs can touch it at the same time when touch typing.markop2003
Dude, I can tap all other keys just fine. and I did't even have to look!
Yeah...That's why the right 'shift' key is bigger, too :Pspazzx625Wow, I never noticed that before, because it's slight but you're definitly right.
Haha that was great![QUOTE="Allicrombie"]

The space bar doesn't bind things together, it spaces them out.

It binds words into sentences.

You can try taking the shift key you don't use, and put in spacebar's place. See if you think that will work. Just try not to kill yourself pulling the keys out of the keyboard. It can be dangerous...

Hey now, Im not not gonna do that... in the future, the keyboard-layout will change. I believe. and I have seen a new Apple laptop without a keyboard. it's true.

If the layout will chage, can the 'M' and the 'N' key switch places? I always found it annoying.

I am not following...when typing, your two thumbs naturally sit close to the bottom middle of keyboasrd so they could easily make it smaller.
The "windows" key was a useless idea.
The tilda key is pretty useless too.
The Apple wireless keyboard has a fairly short space bar. But they over did the economising when they got rid of backspace (it's function delete)
