[QUOTE="AirGuitarist87"] Didn't know that. But it was first aired in 1997, I wouldn't really call that "old". :?AirGuitarist87

no but it was awesome

they need to make a season 4:x

Yeah, I just watched an episode and it does look very good. :P Don't think it was ever aired over this side of the pond, though.

it showed on HBO

[QUOTE="samuraiguns"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]Adult cartoon medium.:|

LJS9502_basic

lol, this is epic fail.

You realize the west has made x rated cartoons?

I seem to remember they were doing X rated parodies/versions of Mickey Mouse and co. since they were created. There's a story about an animator showing one to Walt Disney during a big meeting, and he laughed along with everyone else, then fired the guy who made it at the end of the meeting. DOn't know if that's particularly true, but there certainly would adult versions made by other people even during that time.

I think people have already said this, but basically it's the style.

This is a cartoon:And this is an anime:

See the difference? It's not HUGE, but I do see a difference.

They're heaps different. Cartoon is Western. Anime is Japanese. They have their different styIes that goes beyond the art.

In Japan, they refer to cartoons as anime too. They don't really differentiate like we do here.

I believe in anime, if they get their head blown off by a shotgun, their head WILL be removed unlike cartoon. I think anime is giving the characteristics of real life whilestill staying in the boundaries of cartoon whereas cartoons naturally do thing where they have no real consequence of what real life has. I think I've explained it to the best of my abilities.....

Anime is Japanese animation. The only difference can be that 'cartoon' usually refers to children's shows, and there are animes with more mature themes.MrPraline
exactly. cartoons are usually for kids. anime can be for any age/gender. but what do simpsons, family guy, futurama, south park, etc classify as?

Well for one, Japanese cartoons are given the name anime. But one key difference between anime and 'American' shows is that anime tends to have one long journey. That is, in anime each episode would contribute to the plot. In American cartoons, each episode stands by itself. Of course there are exceptions.
