$50 buck for a quality pair of jeans you don't have to be embarrassed to be seen in is a little more. There's a reason the other two brands are almost free.

airshocker

I bought like four pais of Express jeans when they were on sale during the holidays. Spent around 150 bucks and they're probably the best jeans I've ever owned.

I bet those were on sale though, right? And that's still a lot more than $10/pair. :P

I once got $45 jeans for 14.60. That was about two years now and they make up a large majority of my jeans.

[QUOTE="EasyStreet"]for $50 I can get couple pairs of good jeans like Gap or Tommy PullMyFinger. I wish Levis would become cheaper I no longer own any Jeans from this company:(.Engrish_Major
I just looked on JCPenney's web site, and it says $40 for most of them. And for a pair of pants that you'll probably wear a couple of times/week for a couple of years, that is not a huge expenditure imo.

I work at JC Penny and you can find better deals than that more often than not.

What pair of jeans costs $10?

slipknot0129

faded glory or wrangler.

ew the difference is the quality of material that is used. also, if you can't tell the difference between a good looking pair of jeans that are $50 and a pair of jeans that are $10, i'm surprised you've ever interacted with the outside world

You get what you pay for up to a certain point. Beyond that you're paying for someone's ego. A $10 pair of jeans probably isn't going to last long, but a $30 or $40 pair will. There are, of course, exceptions to every rule however.

Materials and cut. As far as I've seen in my country, wal-mart type of jeans look like tubes. Designer jeans are tighter or baggier depending on the style you choose and they usually look better. Cheaper jeans also fade faster, and unless you want to look like the Bee Gees after a few washes, then you're better off with the more expensive ones. Besides, you can save on other things. You have to like how you're dressed. Don't settle for 'alright'.

Unless you're a frugal penny pincher scavenging the thrift stores;you're not going to find a quality pair of jeans at $10.

cheap jeans, rips, tear, loses color, button falls off and shrink in the wash. A good pair can last you years.

There really isn't a huge difference, but I have to admit that the $35 Old Navy jeans I bought a few months ago are significantly more comfortable than most of my $15-$20 Nevada jeans.

Quality pairs of jeans don't exist below $20. I personally just buy whatever fits the best. Calvin Kleins fit the best for me since I don't have much in terms of hips and they come in size 31 waists. I was trying on some Arizona Jeans at Penney's and they just didn't fit right around the crotch area, Levi's that are on sale at my mall aren't faded enough, and I don't want to pay for American Eagle jeans.

Yeah. But like I said, they're the best jeans I've ever owned. Didn't shrink, fit perfectly, look good with everything I wear. I don't expect I'll be buying anymore for at least a couple of years.

$50 to $100 jeans have holes and be-dazzle on it.

$10 jeans don't have holes and a little girl didn't be-dazzle them.

The jeans I wear cost at least 200 and there's a huge difference not only in the way they look but the way they fit. After I took the plunge and bought my first pair I realized I will never go back to cheap jeans again. There is generally little difference in jeans under 100 dollars. You mostly pay for the brand not quality at that price.

Don't know what stores you're shopping at, but mine cost around 50 dollars a pop normally and don't have any such things on them.

The 50 dollar jeans have more rips in them. Rips are cool....joking, but more expensive jeans (Levis) are usually tougher and last longer.

Quality, any higher than that and you're probably paying more so for brand name and possibly decoration (e.g., vintage).

The only clothes I get from Walmart are t-shirts, socks, and underwear. Try on those walmart ones then some from Macys. The difference is pretty obvious.

Quality of the material, usually. I'd recommend buying $30-40 jeans over $10, but don't bother with the $100+ ones.

The jeans I buy are only $40 and they last me a while. I do tend to buy new ones when the old ones fade though but only because ever since i've started growing a beard, when my clothes look old and raggedy everyone says I look like a bum .

Nothing much except for the name and trendy things like the worn out look and permanent wrinkles (how stupid is THAT?). Personally, there's a difference between $50 and $20 jeans as per quality, but after that, there is just name recognition to infer status. My friend has a $150 pair of RichAhole brand (You heard of em? They're the newest, trendiest in style you know.) that has permanent wrinkles that he says fit better, but I'll take my $40 pair that's comfy as sh** any day.

Many people will give you some spiel about how they're SOOOOO much better and blah blah blah, but my friend and I got into a huge argument about it because he's a firm believer in buying name brand stuff at full value from a nice place to make him feel better about it while I'm a Burlington Coat Factory, Plato's Closet type of guy. The latter is a place that sells name brand stuff, but it's used. They dry clean it so it's sterile and in good shape. No underwear, just jeans and shirts and the like.

After going back and reading through the first 2 pages of comments, I was looking for ONE person to claim that $100 jeans were superior to $40 jeans, I was glad that it looks like everyone is at least a reasonable person and not ridiculous thinking that somehow wearing $100 jeans makes them superior, better with women, or better in any way really. Good job, OT. High five to you.

Until you get past about $50, then it's just the label. I'm imagining a graph with quality on the y-axis, $ on the x-axis. Up at a 45degree angle until about $50, then a plateau effect or possibly are 2 degree incline at best.

A $40-60 pair of Levi jeans never disappoints. The quality of the denim is good; it retains its crisp denim feel for a long time.

fit, construction quality and material quality. That said I rarely pay more than $20 for a pair of jeans because I always buy stuff on sale. Just go to TJ Max or a similar discount store and get a good quality pair of jeans on the cheap.

I will and have spent over $100 on jeans, but I know what I'm looking for. I'm not interested in brands, I'm interested in the quality and fit of them. Although, I know what I'm doing, whilst most of you don't really care. Don't get those jeans, OP. Levi's is being recommended here for good reason. They are good quality for the price you pay (in the States at least). Don't get pre-faded jeans and don't get black or grey jeans. Just get a solid dark blue. Straight fit if you're a hambeast and a slim fit if you're slim. Slim fit =/= skinny jeans, which are out. If you go with something like the 511's they will stretch, so get a size smaller.

I usually can get some nice Levi jeans for $30-40 at Kohl's. They often have sales and offer coupons that really bring the price down. I've tried various pairs of jeans, mainly Wrangler, Levi, and American Eagle (listed in increasing order of price), and I have to save Levi were the best. Wranglers are cheap for a reason. The AE jeans were expensive for no reason.

Quality, mostly. Cheap jeans use cheap fabric and cheap parts (zippers for instance), and are usually made by unskilled workers in sweat shops. When you start breaking the $40-50 barrier for jeans, the only difference becomes brand name and fashion quirks (pre-ripped, faded, etc.). Personally, I like to spend no more than $20-30 a pair, solely because the really cheap ones tend to fall apart on me, and I like supporting Canadian manufacturers/businesses (like Mark's Work Warehouse).

More expensive ones fit better. The cheap ones are more "one size fits all", instead of fitting in all the right places; same goes for shirts too.
