What movie have you watched last? For me it would be Insomnia. Lebbin
How did you like that movie?

gremlins 2. hilariously crappy. but a good crappy.big_old_tom
Dude, I ****ing LOVE that movie.
I actually prefer Gremlins 2 over the first movie.
Both of them were crappy-but-fun.
But the thing about the first movie is that it took itself too ****ing seriously. It was still fun, but it tried to be more than it really was.
But watching Gremlins 2, here's what I imagined. I got a picture in my head of someone deciding to write a sequel to Gremlins, without ever having seen it. So anyway, they take the job, and then go watch Gremlins as research.
And then, after watching Gremlins, they just say to themselves, "lol...that **** was STUPID."
And then, for the sequel, they make it 10x as stupid as the original, and that strategy actually works.
I love Gremlins 2. It takes the stupidity of Gremlins, amplifies it, makes the whole movie ridiculously stupidly hilarious, and I'll be damned if it wasn't a hell of a lot more enjoyable than the original.
In fact, if we were to make a list of sequels that were undeniably better than the original, Gremlins 2 ought to be in the top 5. Gremlins 2 was just that good (and by "good", I mean "intentionally stupid, yet utterly fun and captivating").
Anyway, last movie I watched is Menace II Society.
I love that ****ing movie.
Anyway, after watching it again, I IMDBed them, and they've not done much. Which is a shame, because they ought to do more. Dead Presidents was far inferior to Menace II Society, but it had a heart and a soul, which seems to be severely lacking in a lot of major motion pictures. As flawed as it was, Dead Presidents did bring up some interesting themes, and had some great performances (particularly by Larenz Tate, who is an actor who I need to keep an eye on). Watching Menace II Society and then seeing Dead Presidents, it's just awesome seeing Larenz Tate at work. And as much of a horrible movie as Crash was, Larenz Tate was one of the best parts of that movie (a nod also goes out to Terrence Howard, who is also the ****).
Anyway, aside from a documentary about pimps, IMDB says that the Hughes Bros last movie was From Hell, starring Johnny Depp. And while that movie seems to be pretty well not-liked, I seem to remember liking it when I last (and first) saw it about 15 years ago.
They might be crappy filmmakers, but based on Menace II Society and Dead Presidents, they REALLY ought to direct more movies. Flawed or not, both of those movies had enough going on to make me take notice, and I would really like to see what these guys could come up with if they kept on making movies and refining their skills.
Shrek 2 is bafflingly overrated.[QUOTE="A_Tarkovsky"][QUOTE="Yagr_Zero"]I saw Shrek 2 last night. Always a fun movie.Film-Guy
I agree, shrek 1 is much better.
seconded.
The last movie I saw was Batman returns, God it was an awful piece of crap. Not even penguins with rockets strapped to their backs could save it.
Anyway, last movie I watched is Menace II Society.
I love that ****ing movie.

It's like looking for serious racial commentary in a Martin Lawrence movie.
Or a Michael Bay movie.
