Well? Personally, I don't think its possible to answer. But I'd like to hear what OT has to say.

No but seriously you are a living creature so your main goal is not to die and then secondary is the desire to surround yourself with situations, people and objects which keep you mentally healthy.

Allthough this doesnt answer the question, I love what you said there. Very nice statement man.To amuse me.

Indeed. Despite the inevitable most life forms will struggle to hold on but all will eventually fail. Life really is a swirling, sucking, eddy of despair filled with small moments of hope in an ever blackening universe...but I try to sugarcoat the whole affair by being more clinical.
No seriously, the purpose of life is to reproduce, not to live. Anyone who says otherwise forgets that they have a ticking timer in them. Youre meant to die, you only live just long enough to reproduce more and more babies, so that they too can in turn reproduce. Secondary goals are to, in time, make technological advances that might make the waiting/reproduction game more comfortable, for generations to come. If there is a God, humans are not meant to comprhend his goals in this plan and purpose.

Why exist merely to reproduce? Seems to not be a good reason....if that is ALL that there is then the species should die out.No seriously, the purpose of life is to reproduce, not to live. Overcome the odds in life, without god there really is no meaning. To live for god, to win, and to conquer!

It depends on which way you perceive the reasoning behind how we exist in the first place. If there is a god, then his intentions are FAR beyond level of comprehension, intended for all living life forms. Either way, I think humans like to breathe, they like to feel, they like to live- or atleast, they think it has to be better than just dying, right? Very early in a human's life span, we are given the ability of reproduction. Things like food, fun, and socialization, are purely meant and designed, so that you can basically just live long enough to find a person to have sex with. Because without sexual reproduction, no one, and nothing else can experience things like food, fun and socialization- because we'd be extinct. I'm just looking at it based on whats the most important thing life needs to do while it's living- reproduction is really the only thing we have to go by.

I'm referring to your response that the purpose of life is to reproduce. That means there is no logical reason to exist and thus the species should die.The answer is 42.CoolSkAGuyFirst reply nailed it. If that isn't enough, ask yourself this: Do you like oranges or do you walk to school?

I'm referring to your response that the purpose of life is to reproduce. That means there is no logical reason to exist and thus the species should die.I think the reality and truth behind the reason, actually extends way beyond human (our) logic, thus we (humans) can't find any logic in the actual "living". But if the purpose of life was to die, then we would not have sexual organs, and earth would be a barren rock. The word life means something that's living, and for a species to be living, it needs to be able to reproduce. In millions of years, species evolve into something new entierly, perhaps almost as a reward for reproducing this long. I think, (a far off little idea here...) like in the film 2001: a space odyssey, a species that may reproduce long enough, may then evolve into something that is god-like in its logic, and maybe then, we will understand what the meaning to life was, and that we also did it- whatever it may be. Just speculation of course, within the bounds of our capacity to comprehend things, but atleast it's an answer more elaborate and provacative than, "to die".

You miss the point. If the only basis is reproduction than with no actual purpose beyond that there is no reason for the species to continue.Life is what you make of it...sure it's cliched as hell but it's the truth......reproduction is what we are biologically meant to do....but man has progressed far from animalistic origins....we each take enjoyment out of our time on earth...so to each their own as long as it doesn't conflict with somone elses happiness....

If the only basis is reproduction than with no actual purpose beyond that there is no reason for the species to continue.Like I said, if you look at it scientifically, or atleast from the standpoint as an organism, it appears that our only purpose in life, is to actually make more life. I don't know why, I'm not god, but if you were to somehow ask a bunny, or a microscopic cell this very same topic question, he (or she), would probably just tell you the same thing. Eat so you don't die off so quickly, and then find someone to have sex with, and thus replicate the cycle for millions of years. Maybe this is all a game of last man standing or something, we will never really know, and thats why it's impossible to really answer your question (or atleast in the way you want it answered).

Hence, there is no meaning by this criteria.;)Having fun and being happy. It's that simple.gunswordfistBut why should any life entity exist purely for those reasons?
But why should any life entity exist purely for those reasons?.LJS9502_basicHm? Why should any other reason have more meaning that those? there is no inherent logic, that we are aware of, in life, or existence.
