What's up with all the US hate lately?

Everyone seems to hate the US lately. Blah the economy sucks and US are the world police. blah blah blah. And this is mostly coming from Americans! I'm European but come one have some pride. There are far worse countries.. like Buthan or something.

Lately? That is normal for OT. Note...not all users of course.

Yeah, I don't know. The US is generally doing well.

It's the popular thing to do now I guess. I find it all rather annoying and generally just try to ignore the America haters.

It's not hate as much as it is criticism of a nation. Hate is a very strong word, when you don't know the people here personally. I just wish all these threads that are basically all about 9/11 would disappear. I'm sick of them, they're full of the same..Deihjan

OTers have lots of repressed anger because bullies would always use their brute strength to beat us up on the playground and steal our lunch money. Their hatred of brute strength is then applied to the brute strength of the US on the world stage. fidosim

Contrary to what many believe, America is still one of the most free countries in the world. I can go out, get a permit, and buy a fully automatic weapon if I really wanted to. I can go wear I want, say what I want, work where I want, etc. We have some more rules than we did before, but America is far from being Socialist.

I don't hate the US. I just think that the US government have seriously overstepped their bounds when it comes to personal freedoms/security and trying to impose their own ideas on other nations. They're imperialistic.

It's not lately, it's everyday on OT. People need something to hate to make themselves feel better. It's part of life and a normal defense mechanism. Just keep your chin up. Eventually they will start picking on something else.
