i nearly everything.
one of my favorite genres is folk (bob dylan, nick drake, vashti bunyan, joanna newsom, devendra banhart, etc.)
i also love hip hop (mf doom, mos def, wu-tang clan, dr. dre, common, talib kweli, nas, etc.) which, thematically, may seem to be the polar opposite of folk. however, i think that the two are fundamentally similar, since they tend to be all about sticking it to the man.
and then there is good old rock. nothing beats rock. all kinds of rock. (the velvet underground, pixies, deerhoof, tortoise, (smog), the united states of america, radiohead, beck, weezer, chavez, the books, the darkness, the new pornographers, the dirty projectors, dinosaur jr., the beatles, superdrag, wilco, david bowie, etc.)
