I've recently started to drift apart from my best friend, who I've known since I was like four years old. it didn't bother me at first, but It's starting too now because we basically ignore each other and hang around with different people.

I've split up with girls before and not cared, but this is bothering me like crazy (heterosexually:P), as I feel like I'm losing my best bud

I personally think losing friends you grew up with is harder.

Although its hard spliting with a girl (I'm going through that now). Its so much harder to lose your best friend. Someone who you've spent years together is very hard to replace.

Breaking up is worse for me, because a relationship includes bff-ness for me. So I lose both. I've drifted away from friends before, but nothing a friend has ever done can match the hurt of a breakup.

Finding a girl to date is easy. Finding a person who can be a real close friend is hard.

Edit: Well actually I suppose if I lose my current girlfriend it would be real devestating since she is my best friend... So I guess its going to vary from person to person.

It depends, but overall I have found losing close friends to be much harder. I suppose it'd be different if a really long relationship ended, but overall I think that losing good friends is harder. I had a best friend from age 3 to 15, and it ended over something stupid and it still hurts sometimes...and I'm 18 now.

Girls come and go but true friends are hard to come by. If I lost my best friend I don't know what I'd do to be honest. That's not to say I don't have other friends, but nobody knows me like he does.

Maybe its different for girls. Maybe its the way our minds work. Personally losing a friend is much harder than losing a girlfriend. I dunno :P

For me a breakup has always been worse. This is mostly because I've never lost a best friend, but instead have had all of them slowly drift out of my life as each of us has matured. I also tend to become really close friends with current girlfriends, so the sudden breakups tend to hurt much more/much longer.

for my current situation it would be harder to lose my girl because she's like my best friend and awesome girlfriend, yet if it was someone I didn't love as much then it would definiatly be loosing a good friend for no reason

tbh I'd say losing a best friend is worse

people argue that even in cases of marriage your spouse is your best friend, but with the divorce rate over 50% in the United States, I would honestly put more stock in my best friend

Had to choose "don't care" because your question is too vague. Should have been "best friend or best girl" or at least "girlfriend." I don't know what "losing a girl" is supposed to mean.

This, most my relationships are with friends, so I generally have a strong friendship with them, that gets even stronger as the relationship progresses. Losing that is a very difficult blow to me.

Friends of course. Friends that lose contact because of a girl is ludacris. I've had many friends stop being friends because of it. Can't stand that crap.

Depends on who the girl is. If she is your fiance, that could hurt. But 9/10 times losing a best friend hurts more.

It depends if you are talking about friends, or best friends, because it makes a difference to me. I have lost friends before, and it was not a big deal, but I almost lost my best friend because of my ex, and that was very bad. In the end, it worked out because he was there for me when it ended. It can be tough if your significant other is also your best friend, but in my case, when it was done with her, my best friend was the one who made me feel better. Would be a lot harder to replace him than a girl.

It's much tougher losing touch with friends imo - but much nicer when you run into them by chance into them later in life, and often less awkward than ex's :)

Depends on the person, in both. Honestly, I've lost plenty of friends, but my break-ups have been much more stressful and depressing. Well, not all, I've lost a few friends that was heartbreaking, but overall a relationship breaking up is worse.

It's worse with your best friend as they've been there almost all your life. It feels like somethings missing, while a girl can leave you frustrated, but there are always more.

best friend passing away is harder than losing a girl, although its situational if its your wife and you have kids and then your wife decides to break up with you than it will be MUCH harder if its just a girlfriend..then..no..you can always make up ;) i did it 3 times =P

My best friend would be much much harder to replace than a girl. Oddly enough I am extremely comfortable around girls even if I just met them but I feel awkward around guys that I do not know well.
