The rich are the ones that tend to provide people like you with paying jobs, what "obligations" do they have to "spread the wealth" when providing occupations is just that. Furthermore handing out money that isn't earned is detrimental to society as a whole. With a good example example being LBJ's War on Poverty and the catastrophe it was for the black community.

There is nothing wrong with redistributing wealth. There is, however, a problem with the government forcing people to redistribute their wealth. If people want to redistribute wealth, they can give to charity.

[QUOTE="Brainkiller05"][QUOTE="HardQuor"]Rich people somehow think that they're better people in all ways than poor people. Or rather, that poor people are worthless and the scum of society.Brainkiller05

It doesn't matter what they think about poor people, their money is their money. "omg the rich don't give a damn about the poor, we should definitely take money off them!" isn't any more valid than "hey they've got more money than this poor dude, lets take money off them" and tbh I shouldn't get your hard earned money because I cba getting off my backside and getting a job.

It's called responsibility people cannot become rich with out the existence of the less frotunate.

I don't see your point. It's not the rich's responsibility at all. My mum and dad work 100x harder than David Beckham yet he earns more in a week than they do in a year (which is horrible and makes no sense at all) but doesn't make it his responsibility to pay for my education, my car, my food, my bills etc.

Your sig fits this topic perfectly.

The money belongs to who it belongs to... not the governmentDivergeUnify

Exactly. My family is considered "upper class" by many but now they have to pay MORE money just because some people decide that they don't want to work? My parents are hard working people and I honestly think that's some bull****.

Despite the fact I think they should be taxed more, I dont think its right. Most rich people do indeed earn their money, and quite a few rich people (even middle class) donate a lot of time, money, and supplies to help out poor people.

If you took all the richest people, took EVERY penny they have, and try to run America you would only be able to run it for a few days. The richest individual is Bill Gates, he is worth $85 billion. Add him to all the other supper rich and you'll have around $900 billion at the most. However, it takes trillions to run the country for a day. The money doesn't exist. The first thing he is going do is say something along the lines of: "the Republics lied, the country is in worst chape than we thought and I won't be able to fulfill some of my promises. We can't just tax these people so instead are we not only going to tax these people, but we're also going to tax them, you, back there. you, over there, and you." Bet you $50 he will.Nerkcon

My parents and I believe this as well. I'm glad there are still people out there with a damn brain.

FIXED for Obama supporters.

Yeah, since there's such a huge difference between the two candidates.

Pff, give me a break, even the communist party in China has a larger political spectrum than these two.

[QUOTE="jd7-03"]Here's the thing that Republicans forget...George W. Bush already spread the wealth around. In 2002 Bush gave the rich, the top 1% of the country an 8% tax break while the middle class got a 2% tax break...what is that called...it's spreading the wealth around. Now Republicans are upset that it's going to be spread around yet again but just the other way around. I'm sure Exxon Mobile making record profits yet again will have a tough time dealing with the 8% tax hike. Jacobistheman
So you think that the top 5% should pay 40% of thier income, while the bottom 40%(don't know exact number but anyone making less that 45k or so) should get money from the government, welfare as it is called. He didn't spread the wealth around he let the people who it belonged to keep it.

It's a lot lower then 45k, try below 25k, 40K is actually around the average individual income in the country, middle class.I'm in the 45-55k range and 30% of the my check goes to the government, let the rich making 150k+ go back to paying 39% as they can afford it.

The way I see it, the people who are really going to benefit from it are the ones who need it the least. I'm talking about the people who live soley on gvment handouts. If we just give them money, are we really helping them? They need to be out there making their own living. "If you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he will eat for life." or something like that.

The fact is the workers that are pouring in their whole effort into companies to keep their jobs don't usually end up multi-billionaires. The CEO of those corporations sit around getting rich off other people's work. Before you attack me about how they made their own way in life, don't forget that society is what made them what they are. For someone to make it buisness doesn't mean that they work hard, it means that they are able to maximize profits and decrease costs which ends up trampling all over the work force. It simply isn't true that the rich get rich from their own sweat and hard work, they get rich by being able to exploit other people's hard work and then selling the items they people produced at a profit. It disgusts me how greedy most people are, "MY MONEY" the work force deserve better conditions. I have talked mainly about CEO so some might say "What about doctors who studied hard, shouldn't they be better off than everybody else?" The fact is I want to be a doctor, and the last thing I think about is a high salary. Being a doctor is about helping others, I find it despiciable that healthcare is an industry making a buisness out of people's need and desperation.
