-Pass Out Game

-Salvia

-illegal drugs

-sex

-comatose-drinking

These are favorite hobbies of teens nowadays (12-17)

Im 21 yrs old not that old but i dont remember me engaging in those activities when i was young, i dont even recall any of those things being cool when i was that age. I live in amsterdam so i've smoked weed when i was a teen..But the whole "puberty fase" is like its getting kinda out of hand..Ok sex is a little different but still now i hear 11 yr olds have sex, and thats just too young. What is it with our culture, society that makes young children engage or even think about all these things? I mean they are our future, but it seems to me theyre getting dumber all the time.

It seems to me parents have a lot less control on their children, and children get or are ignorant and naive at a younger age now. Whats up with that???

Im half filipino and when i go to the philippines i dont (or hardly) see this kind of behaviour in teens there. Its mostly the more rich and "civilized" countries. Why is that?

Pass Out Game - apparently a game teens play in america where they strangle eachother untill one goes unconciouss, saw a documentary on it yesterday, apparently played and have been played by 750thousand teens with even 2 deadly occasions Salvia - A legal drug thats becoming or already is a teenage fad that causes severe hallucinations and alternation of perception. Illegal drugs - speaks for itself Sex - meaning teens under 14 yr old having a sexlife, starting at the age of 11 Comatose drinking - Drinking yourself in a coma, a coma! Have u ever drank yourself in a coma? I dont think so, but 12 yrs old are doing that lately

Your right even though i am a teen i still find what they are doing wrong and something must be done to stop them for harming themselves or even kill themselves for that matter. i think parents just dnt want to bother anymore and think that this will help their children in social gatherings with ppl their age but it's just plain wrong!!

If 750, 000 apparently played it that is pretty impressive if only 2 died. We have Comatose (Binge) drinking in Britain. In school it was mostly the losers that drank themselves stupid and talked about it, really loudly, the next morning. Having a hangover was a mark of respect in their circle. I blame it on the fact kids have no responsibility, national service should be brought back like they have in Israel. I've yet to meet a disrespectful Israeli.

Apparently being strangled into state of uncuncioussnes triggers a little high or euphoria for a few seconds, thats why its played. And apparently 2 kids hang themself in their room (13yrs old) in order to get that high by themselves Being uncuncoussnes isnt lethal, but it is quite dangerous for little kids to do such stupid things (that CAN result deadly), dont u think?

I find that partially true I just find it being more extreme now, with the internet and kids having acces to everything. My nephews that are now 11 know a lot more about sex, violence, drugs then i did at that age. And with that knowledge the youth now also is less offended by stuff like that. I ddnt grew up with a computer like i guess most u of my age. I mean when i was young i was watching power rangers. Now theyre watching porn, violence is thought of being cool, 10 yr old stabbing and punching eachother. Its easy to say society has always been like that , we only see it more because we have internet and such. 20 or 30 yrs ago, the violence and sex on tv right now wud be outlawd and banned. So by society being more "liberal" and "expressive" i think also has a large impact on the youth, who i still think are being more extreme by the years.

I meet some teens who are just awesome, lovley kids, they leave you walking away with a smile. I tend to only see the bad ones when there is a group of them, I have never in my life had an encounter, or witnessed someone else getting grief by a teenager who was alone. I know what it's all about, but it'll take me hours of thought to get it into writing, but to be basic, it's all leads to the need to impress, lack of understanding otherwise and a narrow vision.

Just thought i'd mention this while on the subject. Just yesterday at the end of my day, I was sitting in my car at the beach car-park, texting my boss and my girlfriend just after loading my board into my car and slipping on a t-shirt. While I was sitting there, I could see and hear a group of about 6 teenagers, aged about 14-16 gathered at the bus stop, laughing and arguing amongst themselves. I could tell from the tone of their voices that they were out to be a bunch of pricks, but I was nowhere near them and wasn't my problem. Anyone who passed by however got stares, abuse or something chucked at them. I was considering calling the police and letting them know a group of wankers were causing people grief, but then something happaned.

The silly fools, not knowing what they were doing threw what looked like the remainder of a mars bar into the face of a passing girl. This girl was the daughter to the biggest surf school of our area, and her dad just saw it. Her dad, along with a group of friends and collegues are normally very chilled out passive people, as the typical surfer mentality is, but they couldn't let this slide.

Next thing the kids saw, about 6 full grown men walking towards them, a look of righteous anger on ones face. The little wankers forgot about the bus they were waiting to catch and run off.

I think your blowing this a bit out of proportion. I suggest you ask your parents how things were in their day. Some of the stuff my father has told me about the things him and his mates got up to in the 70's make me think sometimes that kids today have calmed right down.

Pass out game: I got better things to do with my time, things that make money, get me fit, let me taste life.

Salvia: Don't need it, don't need any drugs, I exercise, I live active. Exercise releases endorphines which provide me with a happy drug that don't cost me money

Illegal Drugs: See above. But don't need to impress anyone with doing drugs, I see enough of the real drug people from a past job I had cleaning the communal areas of the council housing flats. Those people, they are not pretty, they are not good company, and they won't stop calling you "mate".

Sex: I couldn't care less if a group of 12 year olds are having an orgy in the house next door, I really just don't care about all that. What does bother me is the view of life that some girls have, but this is more something that devlopes as they start to see reality of independence. What i'm talking about is the path of the social fund. Get pregnant, get a council house, fake independence.

Coma Drinking: Yeah some people grow out of that. I stopped drinking too heavy simply because I hated hang overs. But I can't say i've ever drunk myself to a coma, I seen an adult do it once during a celebration.

(about) pass out game - cool nice for you, strangling is cool salvia - people with alzheimer get hallucinations, thats how far out u go when using salvia. teens of the age 12 - 15 have brains wich arent fully developed. This is gonna seriously affect them in the future. And im talking about teens who use it regulary, not just once to try. illegal drugs - i dont see weed being as destructive as heroine? sex - we are human, but kids of 11 dont have a proper way of handling sex, they might grow up having patronising thoughts on women, cuz i doubt they already have the experience to know what love sex and women are, and how to deal with it.....and seriously? comatose drinking - for a 11 yr old to be in a coma for a week by drinking alcohol, and for it to be regularly in the news, is a little more serious then getting drunk.

Well actually i did, i just saw about the pass out game and salvia on a documentary last night on tv, about risky teen hobbies in america. U wont find a game like that here. Cant even imagine how something like that can be considered "cool" And whats up with all the negativity towards me? Im just starting a debate And ive seen all those things, but i just see it lately beginning in a younger crowd. In my time, i smoked with kids my age, but ive never seen kids of 10 and 11 smoking weed. But i do now. But i might as well change the topic, not only being about the youth, but our whole society in large. Are people being more "liberal" and "expressive" in a more decadent way? And what are your thoughts about it?

Did you just put acid in the same category as meth? And OP there's no need to get worked up, kids mistakes, learn from them, and become adults. Cycle of life.

Im not getting worked up, its just a debate we' re having right. All im saying doesnt necesarrily have to be true. Its just what i have seen in my experience. Dont let me get started on the adults of today Or lets do, what are your thoughts on people (adults) today in being more aggressive, sleazy, closedminded, open-minded etc. ?

The youth today isn't different from the youth of last generation, or the generation before. Ever see the movie "12 Angry Men?" One of the jurors wants to send the boy to the electric chair because he feels that kids are running wild. You'll find writings in ancient Sumerian times that talk about how the youth are degenerate, for crying out loud >_>

I know, but the actions the youth have now are more extreme than then right. I think the problems of teens then Like coming home late, having premarital sex, and whatever are a lot different of now, with teens joining gangs, and doing more extreme actions in order to "find" themselves or prove themselves. A fight at school used to be very alarming in those days. Now fights happen all the time and it has been evolved into stabbing and shooting.

A fight at school used to be very alarming in those days. Now fights happen all the time and it has been evolved into stabbing and shooting.

where have you been. kids have been doing that throughout the 90s

And stabbing and shooting is normal (teen) behaviour? Stop talking towards me, and more ABOUT the topic pls

And did it happen in the 80's? or 70's? Or was there a certain turning point? Has it always been like that? Have we come to considere these action as normal teen behaviour? Im just playing the devils advocate to spark a little debate on it.

Teens are extremely narcissistic and lust for things that society has labeled taboo = doing all those things

Most teens would have to trying something new. Some of them is beneficial , but some of them making the teens towards to the social problems. In my country like Malaysia, I saw many teens that were involved in drugs, playing truant, gangsterism, and even they also involved in illegal racing that causing 1001 problem. Most illegal racers were mainly Malay teens and they were using motorcycles that had been modified to take part on it and this issue had been spread through the country. Many ways that they have to overcome this problem, but these illegal racers are still gone wild until the government had to change its terms from the illegal racers to the street gangsters so the teens that were involved in illegal racers didn't feel so great when they called them like that..

What about besides the fact of the risky behaviour of teens, but rather theyre being less educated, more ignorant and naive, more prone to depression or peer pressure etc? Any thoughts?

BTW, this passout game is the most idiotic thing I've ever heard. Even more idiotic than that party pills game. Those 2 that died by it are probably the top 2 candidates for the Darwin award.

im australian and our biggest problem is booze and a very weak legal system, but it is also a lack of respect for authority, in most non-western countries they are brought up to respect their elders, whereas in western countries they are brought up as equals and instead of punishing for misbehaviour the parents make compromises and also they willl not hear a bad word about their kid. i believe in physical punishment, not full on abuse with a baseball bat, but a smack or in my case my mum would use wooden spoons on me. but it is a serious problem when a 14 year old can stab someone and get off without so much as a criminal record.

another thing is which may sound racist and do not mean to offend anyone is immigrants from war-torn countries such as sudan, somalia and in the past vietnam and lebanon (australian examples), some of these people have been brought around violence and poverty and are then thrown into a first world environment, a shopping centre near me has it's own police station, this is unheard of near me but the area around it is a massive public housing estate where these refugees are settled. now i know that these people have had pretty crap lives but when they start walking around with machetes hidden in their cloths and bashing up police officers i think its time some were sent back, if they want to live as they did back home then we should oblige them.
