For me, it's the 7.62x39 Kalashnikova: reliable, efficient and deadly. Too bad it lacks in the accuracy department.

That looks mighty similar to an M4. Only difference is that it has a laser sight and different barrel configuration.i never seen a real assault rifle with me own eyes but this look awesome.

G36c, very nice rifle, although te AK47 is also a great rifle.
and is it me, or do those guns in the poll all appear in CoD4?
P90 or m4 I'm I the only one thaty has'nt fired a gun yet kemar7856
The P90 is an SMG out of the list the G36C is the best .
I felt that those were the most popular rifles. If GS would let me post more options, I'd have added the Enfield, the Steyr, the G3 and a couple of other rifles as well.G36c, very nice rifle, although te AK47 is also a great rifle.

I forgot the name of the rifle but its supposed to take over the M16a in the US in a few years time if the tests go alright. Anyone know?Iced_Earth_RulzThere were a couple programs like that. Last I heard they were on hold in terms of actually replacing M16s in large numbers. I saw a couple weapons but yeah they had a way cool one that seemed to bridge the gap between the ak47 and 16 in terms of durability and versatility.
[QUOTE="AirGuitarist87"]I've always loved the MP5, ever since playing SWAT on the PC years ago.Neon-Tiger
I would assume the majority of the people on this site can not really have an opinion on this matter because most of them haven't shot any of these rifles or any rifle at all.
The M16 is a great weapon for medium to long ranges but many engagements now are close quarters so i defnately prefer the M4.

HK G3
powerful, accurate, tried and trued, and suprisingly reliable. If what I read is true, it too (like the AK) is based off the German STG 44 or whatever "the first assault rifle" was called.

Even though the p90 is a sub machine gun, it shoots some pretty wicked ammo. the five-seven x 28 mm are pretty impressive shells. Its compact shape, and perfect design make it feel so comfortable. The bullets drop out of the bottom of the gun making it ideal for enclosed areas. When fired the gun just feels amazing.
But I guess for an assualt rifile I like the famas.

Of those listed I will have to go with the AK47. Rugged, reliable, and efficient. Round is excellent for short range encounters with good ballistics.
However, the A4 is close second. Nowadays it is very reliable and accurate out to 500 yards. With a pic rail handguard it can be fitted with as many accesories as an M4. The round is a bit light though.
When anarchy reigns or when I am stranded on another planet. I wwold prolly take an AK.
