[QUOTE="MetalGear_Ninty"][QUOTE="super_mario_128"]C'est la vie. Better than any English saying on that theme.Grodus5
What does it matter if the saying is English, Spanish or whatever?

Different languages, atleast for me, tend to have more power and mystery behind them, simply due to the fact that not everyone can understand it. On that subject, what does that phrase mean?

"Such is life." - Similar to the American phrase, "Life sucks, wear a helmet."

I don't know if this counts, but when I'm playing a PC game online and I meet someone who says something he thinks is funny, but I think isn't funny, I say, "HAHAHAHAHA...Wait I don't get it."

"That's Life", or something to that effect.

I've got a large list, but these are my favorites:

"The dark is generous.
Its first gift is concealment: our true faces lie in the dark beneath our skins, our true hearts remain shadowed deeper still.
But the greatest concealment lies not in protecting our secret truths, but in hiding us from the truths of others.
The dark protects us from what we dare not know.
Its second gift is comforting illusion: the ease of gentle dreams in night's embrace, the beauty that imagination brings to what would repel
in day's harsh light. But the greatest of its comforts is the illusion that the dark is only temporary: that every night brings a new day.
Because it is day that is temporary.
Day is the illusion.
Its third gift is the light itself: as days are defined by the nights that divide them, as stars are defined by the infinite black through which
they wheel, the dark embraces the light, and brings it forth from the center of its own self.
With each victory of the light, it is the darkness that wins.
The dark is generous, and it is patient.
It is the darkness that seeds cruelty into justice, that drips contempt into compassion, that poisons love with grains of doubt.
The dark can be patient, because the slightest drop of rain will cause those seeds to sprout.
The rain will come, and the seeds will sprout, for the dark is the soil in which they grow, and it is the clouds above them, and it waits behind
the star that gives them light.
The dark's patience is infinite.
Eventually, even stars burn out.
The dark is generous, and it is patient, and it always wins.
It always wins because it is everywhere.
It is in the wood that burns in your hearth, and in the kettle on the fire; it is under your chair and under your table and under the
sheets on your bed. Walk in the midday sun and the dark is with you, attached to the soles of your feet.
The brightest light casts the darkest shadow.
The dark is generous, and it is patient, and it always wins-but in the heart of its strength lies weakness; one lone candle is enough to hold it back.
Love is more than a candle.
Love can ignite the stars."
-Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, by Mathew Stover

"Names hold no meaning. You're identity comes from what you do, your actions, not from a label stuck to you from birth..."
-The True Sith, by Lindsay Napier

"O God, God! How weary, stale, flat, and unprofitable seem to me all the uses of this world!...'Tis an unweeded garden that grows to seed."
-Hamlet, by William Shakespeare

Something to the effect of, "The more you learn, the more you realize how much there is you have yet to learn". I don't know where the quote comes from, but in my opinion it's true. There is more knowledge to gain, more skills to master, et cetera than can be achieved within a finite human life span. I would like to master several musical instruments, become an established fiction writer and travel the entire planet at length, but I could never truly do that in my lifetime. It's humbling.

There are some other quotes but I made them and I'm not fond of quoting myself :P

The normal make a living, the deranged make history. -Christopher Titus

"If they return the money, then I don't think anybody has to know who they are or what their names are."

-Rep. Gary Ackerman, on how mob rule is going to work for at least the next four years.

"A witty remark proves nothing." -Voltaire

"Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

When life gives you lemons, just say 'F**k the lemons,' and bail.
