I think he made a wise decision leaving the Caviliers. Miami is a cooler place to live and the Heat are better. It may have been sudden but he is a good player. What is your opinion of Lebron James?

Great player -seems to lack that killer instinct -a little full of himself (who wouldn't be after being told you are the greatest since age 15) -did what he wanted to with his career (good for him) -a little stubborn (does not want to run the point)

I think he's an idiot for making a spectacle of his signing with the Heat. I can't stand him. I don't think the Heat will do well because Bosh, Wayde, and James don't mesh together well. I want to see him do poorly. If they advanced to the Finals against the Lakers, I would want the Lakers to win and I hate the Lakers.

He's the best player in the league after Kobe. Who the hell wouldn't want to escape Cleveland as soon as they could? Especially if they can't put together a supporting cast. Also, I think Florida has no income tax, which is pretty important for someone who is piling up the millions.

Nope. I'm from Dallas. Dirk Nowitzki would never leave his team in such a manner.

He is a good player, however, he is not as good as him or people seem to pretend, he doesn't have any credibility, also, he is nothing else than a mercenary and a very arrogant player.

I think hes a little overrated if people compare him to MJ or even kobe i think both of them are easily better considering they both know how to win and they actually have a good jump shot unlike lebron who basically drives like 70% of the time at least when i use to watch him play on the cavs, but he is one of the best players in the league but i dont think he will ever get to the MJ level.

I think he's a great player. As for him going to miami, it was his choice and I see nothing wrong with it. The special was silly, but whatever. I'm a Nuggets fan and I hope when Melo leaves, people don't act like a bunch scorned middle school lovers.

The guy next door is cool but he is not as good as Lebron James. Also he is better than 99 percent of the men on earth and that is why he is a nba star. There are many men out there and no matter how hard they try they can never make it to the pro's. I know you think that men are created equal but that is not true some men are better than others.

The way the Cavs quit in the Heat game shows you why he left in the first place. Pathetic effort. I'm pulling for Lebron all the way.

How does being athetic and talented make someone automatically better than 99% of people on earth? What if playing basketball is all he can do? Playing professional sports is only one thing that someone can excel in, but says nothing about the rest of his life. I have no respect for the guy, made even more true by the fact that I just couldn't care a flip about the NBA. It's one of the only sports where I don't pay attention to the pros from my favorite college teams.

First of all i don't think he's really overrated, or at least any more over rated than any of his contemporaries. He's a great competitor and one of the best players right now. He does still have to prove himself in clutch performances. I think with his current team, and improved jumpshot, he could turn out to be a valuable option in a clutch situation.

However, I'm dissapointed in him. Not because he left Cleveland, and turned his back on his hometown/area, he gave it 7 years, and I personally don't care about the promises he made or wahtever. Not because of the way he announced his move to Miami, sure it was too much, but I'm not worried about that really. I'm dissapointed in him because I've seen him as, over last 7 years, as the player who would continue the lagacy that started with MJ and continued on with Kobe, so did many other people. Now before I go on, I need to clarify that yes MJ and Kobe had help in acheiving their championship titles. But make no mistake MJ was clearly the deciding factor, that can't be argued. And Kobe's last two confirmed Kobe asthe best player in the NBA, not to mention his stellar seasons for the years that lead up to those championships. Kobe was and is the #1 guy on the lakers and the guy who the lakers trusted when the game was on the line. That's the important thing here.

The reason I needed to clarify that is to justify the next thing I'm going to say, which is the actual reason why I'm dissapointed in Lebron James. Lebron has probably destroyed his legacy as the heir apparent. I highly doubt he will be the #1 guy. The guy that the Heat rely on when the game is on the line. I think this for a few reasons. First of all, Dwayne Wade has already been on the Heat for years and is the team leader. He's proven himself in clutch situations, and has gotten a championship title for the Heat already. Also, his stats have gone up this year, rather than down. Lebrons have gone down. Now, Lebron on the other hand has not proven himself in clutch situations at all, in fact many would say he gives up when it looks like he's going to lose a heated game. He hates to lose (just look at how he acted after the magic defeated him a couple years ago) but the thing is, he gets sore before the game is over, and doesn't perform. If he's able to overcome that, then we haven't seen it yet, and that's the important thing. Basically Lebron will be like a super scottie Pippen instead of a watered-down Michael Jordan. That's a big step down on the legacy ladder.

You're right, the Lakers are better than the Hawks and they probably always will be. I'm not knocking the Lakers at all, they're easily the best team in the league. The point is, arguing about the humility and selflessness of superstar basketball players is kind of silly.

You can hate all you want but he is still better just like a man with a IQ of 150 or more is better than 99 percent of the humans on earth. Some people are better than others. If life was fair there would be no short, ugly, fat, slow, weak or stupid people ect we would all be equal. We would all be olympic level athletes with genius IQ's all mentally strong but life is not like that is it. As for playing basketball all that lebron can do I think we both know better than that.

You don't have to like him but I do respect his talent even in the nba full of stars he still stands far above almost everybody.

Good player.. But he is the personification to what I see wrong with Basketball, and American sports in general.. Where the league prop up these golden boys to be the coming messiah of the sport, instead of team work.. Football is having a similar problem with the extreme celebrations some of these guys are doing.. I would at least shown some respect towards him if he showed a shred of humility, but he hasn't, he believes his own hype.

yeah, some would argue that money isn't everything.

overall happiness i think is a better indication of how successful a person is.

it's not hating...it's common sense....in the grand scheme of life...is putting a basketball through a hoop more important than raising a child?...Can lebron write computer programs?...ifnot does that make me better than him?......or 99% of the population?....I think you have to reassess your priorities on what is important in life....

A person who is way to full of himself, a mercenary, and someone who only cares about his own needs. I don't care that he left Cleveland, people leave teams every season. But before you go onto National TV to announce the decision, you should at least tell the team you are leaving. That said, I blame ESPN for that too.

I live in the same world as you do in this world a basketball star is better than a avarage computer programer or most jobs for that matter. As for raising a child really how many people are doing that there is nothing special about that job. My priorities and yours have nothing to do with who is gifted, above average, average or below average. I did not make these labels up just like I did not make up sexy vs ugly or stupid vs smart ect. These labels have been in place long before I was ever born because all people are not created equal to think so is to be naive. Back on topic I think Labron wanted a championship and he has a better chance to do that with the heat imo.

A great athlete that's not all there mentally. He doesn't have the head on his shoulders to ever be an "all-time great." He's more physically gifted than anyone who has ever played the game, though.

It's not that he left Cleveland that was the travesty. It was just in very poor taste to make a spectacle of it and basically rip the heart out of the fans who were crazy for him. If he had kept it much lower profile I wouldn't have had a problem with it.

He really showed his ass, and I can't fault anyone for disliking him.

[QUOTE="pimpog"] I live in the same world as you do in this world a basketball star is better than a avarage computer programer or most jobs for that matter. Back on topic I think Labron wanted a championship and he has a better chance to do that with the heat imo.Omni-Slash

no-one said we were equal....you're equating special gifts or abilities to being better person overall....not the same....not even close to the same thing...

Never said he was a better person not one time I don't know the man so how could I go there??

As for being a better person that is a very subjective as what my values are vs yours could differ wildly.

you said he was better than 99% of people...:?....yeah at basketball...nothing else....hence our whole discussion on the guy next door raising his kids....*slaps forehead*.....anyway....great talent...no killer instinct....will go down as great potential wasted if he doesn't get a killer instinct....

[QUOTE="rawsavon"]...blame them for what :? Being a business that is about ratings and doing something to get rating...something that did not 'hurt' anyone??? His people called ESPN. Why would they not do it?

Moral reasons. Lebron is not that important.

It's about principles and being a legitimate network. ESPN is always trying to make LBJ bigger than the league when he's not. Dude hasn't even come close to winning a ring and they act like he runs the NBA.

LULZ ESPN is a TV network, not a church. They want ratings (hence why they talk about the Yanks, Sox, Cowboys, and Lakers so much). Lebron special = ratings = money for them

No one said anything about church, it's just sad that ESPN is willing to contribute to this prima donna bull**** that's killing the game of basketball.

he's the best player in the nba right now, bar none. he's a douchebag for spitting in every cleveland fan's face on national television though. why not just sign with another team like every other player ever? why did he need to do that?

i hold no grudges though and i'm a clevelander...

One of the greatest players in the game, and I think he should have stayed in Cleveland and pushed harder for someone better to come with him during the summer. Also, the way he announced his decision to leave was terrible. I still like him though.

I have always hated him. completely overrated up to this point. Promised the city of Cleveland he'd win them a title then when he failed time and time again completely destroyed that franchise on live tv while giving us the best quote of the year at the same time. he's arrogant, dumb and is the most talented player i have ever seen. he is never going to have the killer instinct that MJ and Kobe had and thats why he's basically a more talented scottie pippen on offense but not as good of a defender.
