in 2012, we get a new releases, sequels and Re-releases.....all in 3D

we have

Titanic 3D

Beauty and the Beast 3D

Star Wars Episode 1 3D

Underworld Awakening 3D

Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengenance 3D

Dr. Seuxx ' The Loraxxx 3D

The avengers 3D

Men in black 3D

and their are many others but i'm to lazy to list them all, now of course we have the options to view these movies in their 2D forms but what is hollywood obsession with putting everything in 3D? We're not idiots, we know its to make you pay more for a ticket and boost ticket sales, but with movie attendance falling at their lowest in 16 years

http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/movies/la-et-box-office-20120103,0,6073093.story

haven't movie studios realized that we don't want 3D anymore? Also whats your opinion on 3D movies, i wanna know how you feel that old movies are going 3D, Titanic, Beauty and the Beast and Star Wars. I seen my fair amount of 3D movies last year in 2011 and honestly, I don't watch movies in 3D unless i do my research and read that the movie was shot in 3D and just not converted in post production and all the movies i list are post converted in 3D, so don't watch them in 3D :) (see, i'm lookng out for my peeps). So how do you feel about it? thanks for taking the time to read

The current 3d tech is ok, but its nothing that I really want. I think it's just a way for movie theatres and film companies to charge a few extra dollars for the same movie.

so long as I still get a non 3-d option, not a single f*ck will be given. ...props to them for finding more ways to make money. Rereleases are good money makers

This stuff must not being making it out to SD. I'm not seeing much of anything in HD anymore in theaters here.

You say something about "RE-releases" and then give a list that includes new movies. I'm confused.

I used to go to the 3D movies but they dont impress me much. I think I'm 3D blind. Its fine, it saves me $2 a movie.

I've been confused since before Thegerg was in diapers. I was doing it right since before anyone knew how to do it right.

Since Avatar everything's kicked off. And it's terrible. The amount of companies churning out crappy new films expecting to sell like hot cakes just because they're "3D" is pathetic. Even re-releasing films we've already seen into 3D is ridiculous and is about the only thing lazier than rushing films out in time before the 3D craze ends. Tldr: It's crap.

Wasdie

most movies, i say about 90% of them aren't shot in 3D in mind, its just okay we finish the movie, lets just turn it in 3D in post conversion, i hate that, if your trying to get me to spend extra on a movie ticket i want the full effect, any movie can be turned into 3D, look at Titanic and Lion king and beauty and the beast, those movies when made i'm sure the companies didn't have 3D in mind but with the power of today technology, heck i'm sure we're going to get old black and white movies re-released in 3D, even though its not black and white, singing in the rain is going to go 3D, mark my words

I'd pay to see that. It'd be like I'm standing in the rain right there alongside Gene Kelly. That'd be sweet.

I won't buy a 3D screen. I don't mind going to a 3D movie too much, but I don't prefer it over a regular movie.

Haven't seen many/any "real" 3D movies that have been shot in 3D, but so far it doesn't seem to help immersion into the film.

Not a fan, mainly because of the glasses. I hate putting glasses over top my glasses. If they could make glasses-less 3d movies then I'd be down.

You know the saddest part about 3D dying again?

It's only going to be resurrected when Avatar 2 comes out. You can quote me on that.

If the movie is shot in 3D, then i'm fine with it. But all those 3D conversions look like crap. Hopefully it'll all go away soon.. The worst part is that where i live we only get the 3D versions, there's no choice! :x

I wish people would realise that since Avatar started the trend, movies that make good use of 3D start coming out only now. Making movies takes time, you know. Hack jobs like Clash of the Titans, Harry Potter, Conan and others only hurt the format. Transformers 3 was the first big post-Avatar production that delivered a solid 3D experience, Tintin and Hugo followed it (Hugo bombed like a boss and served only to show snobs that 3D has a future if used right).

This year will be the big year of 3D.

you actually make a decent point that I had not thought about. That being said, it's not really the 3D animations themselves that I have a problem with (crappy or not), but wearing the glasses throughout the movie is massively annoying to me.

A gimmick, pure and simple. No movie, other than possibly Avatar, has actually used the technology in a meaningful way (unfortunately, it wasn't a good movie). Only the independent industry could really take advantage of it, and innovate the medium with ground-breaking ideas... but the inherent problem with the tech is that it is extremely costly, limiting it to really high-budget films.

It doesn't bother me as long as there are 2D versions available. Someone wants to see 3d the so be it. On the rare occasion I go to one I try to avoid conversions though.

i do not partake in it. not only because it costs more, but because i want to see a movie in its natural splendor, and not rely on a gimmick to enhance it for me.

Researchers are starting to say that 3D causes problem with our brains and eyes over time(like a 3D TV you watch every day)...Ive yet to jump on the 3D bandwagon until they know for sure the effects it has on us humans.
