I don't worry about it in my lifetime, but for my kids and grandkids, I want to help as much as possible. Not only would using alternative fuels be better for the environment, but we will be less dependent on gas and not have to worry about it running out soon.

I think the proper term is climate change, since it causes more than just warming. I think it's real and humans play a part in it, and I usually vote Republican if you can believe that! It's sad that some Republican spokespeople act like it doesn't exist.

Some people say its natural and some say humans are playing major role on climate change/global warming, but I think its natural and humans are pushing it also.

Climate Change is real. The earth heats up based on seasons, storm patterns, sun rotations and some slightly because of humans. but it is not something that can be changed or prevented we just have to let it happen.

It's a joke. Earth has been changing from warm to cold for millions of years. It will be warm for a while, then everyone will freak out because a "new ice age" is coming. Then, it will get hot again, and so on.

I think it's a bit overplayed, but i also think that conserving energy and changing some habits save you some money, which we all need right about now.

The over-rated one and a half hour 'documentary' by Al Gore just killed it. No longer a threat, but a political tool and politically caused.

It's not the planet, we are toxicating the air with gases that can't get out of the atmosphere. The thicker the cloud the more heat we get. Stupid Factory farming with its toxic gas.

It is more political than anything. It has become a frenzy among people, buying hybrids and cutting down on energy.

I do not believe in it and will continue driving my low gas mileage vehicles until I can no longer afford to. That might be quite a while consider my father owns major oil royalties in Texas.

I find it pathetic that people can actually buy into something like this. I know this is a major point and it has been said, but our time on earth as humans is only a blink of an eye in the total existance of earth, not to mention our time here on earth with combustion engines and other related machines. The idea that the earth is being affected by such a short amount of time is without reason and logic.

Propaganda. The earth goes through temperature changes independent from CO2 levels. Ice age shifts and solar activity are the largest factors. If anyone takes the time to look, we've actually been cooling since 1998. 1998 was the hottest year on record.

I think Newt Gingrich said it best.

"The word "conservative" includes "conservation" as its root. And conservatives should be cautious. Therefore, I am willing to look for methods of lowering carbon that do not destroy the economy or give the government increased power."

That's my big problem with all the coverage of global warming. It pushes all the attention about environmental conservation onto a controversial issue whose effects are far off (if they exist at all), so it attracts attention away from the more immediate issues of pollution like acid-rain and the effects that pollution has on poeple with asthma. All in all, I think the global warming frenzy really hurts the environmentalist cause more than it helps it...

I believe we need to do everything we can to not pollute, but Al Gore took various facts and blew it all outta proportion to fool people. That part with the polar bears was complete BS. A healthy polar bear can swim 60 miles, they're not going to drown. And the numbers he used of polar bears dying was skewed. The polar bear population that he was speaking of has grown 400% since 1971. If global warming is killing off polar bears, why are their numbers skyrocketting?

BTW, anyone see Ted Turner's comments that in 30 years global warming will make all surviving humans become cannibals?

Global warming is part of a natural cycle but it is possible that we are speeding it up. Overall I think that global warming is overhyped and there are more pressing reasons to become more environmentally conscious such as oil supplies possibly becoming depleted in our lifetimes if nothing is changed.

The global hysteria over it right now is bull****. It is a concern but it is nothing like everyone is making it out to be like. We are contributing to it but it still is a perfectly natural process that coincidentally has lined up since the start of the industrial revolution.

I disagree that we are contributing to it. We are contributing to the overall poor state of our planet, but I don't think the Greenhouse effect has anything to do with the current temperatures. I would cite three basic facts: 1. 1998 was the hottest month ever recorded, and we have been cooling since then. 2. CO2 emissions across the globe have vastly increased since 1998. 3. Deforestation is more prevalent now than in 1998. If there is more CO2, less trees to consume said CO2, and lower temperatures, one can assume that there is no correlation between CO2 emissions and temperature.

It pleases the "GW" supporters to say that we "might" be contributing to it. :P They get all in a huff if you say that we have nothing to do with it. The possibility that we might be doing SOMETHING is there but it is most likely negligible.

Actually now it's called Global Climate Change. I think it's gettin to be a pretty big issue and for a lot of good reasons. The sooner we switch to Ethanol, the better. We got word that John Deere is gonna come modify our tractors to run off of Ethanol. The only problem is the closest Ethanol gas station is 200 miles away. So they're gonna give us a huge tank of it.

We talked about it in Socials class a while ago, and some kids brought up banning greenhouses because they are causing global warming, and were actually serious. The rest of the class was just perplexed.

Apparently the Ethanol way of fuel is only worse of a pollutant in the end than gasoline.
