When I was 18 I applied for a job that required a tie, so my dad showed me how like ten minutes before my interview. Three years later, I am posting here from said job.
Had to learn in eighth grade. went to a catholic school for 8th to 12th and we had several occassions for school mass and the like every month. i printed a sheet with instuctions online and just kept it by the mirror. turns out I was in the minority as most of my classmates either had theirs perpetually knotted forever or used clip ons.
I always say... "I will never wear a tie... it's so old fashion.."' rebel yell!! but then when I become a flight attendant..... not only I have to wear tie but my grungy/metal hair have to be comb like frank sinatra and harold llyod
As a little kid my granddad taught me how to tie a tie and it's a memory I cherish. However, a few weeks ago I learned by way of Youtube how to tie a bowtie.
I learned around 13 since I needed a tie for certain days at highschool. then I decided to simply keep it tied in my locker so I could just slip it on whenever i needed it, so i forgot how to tie it.
I believe your not a man until you learn how to tie a tie. Its a very useful skill. I learned from watching my grandpa do it, when he wasn't around I tried it by myself and learned. Its pretty easy...
Around middle school, I think. My knots aren't perfect, since no one ever told me exactly how it was done, but they get the job done on the rare occasions I need to wear a tie.
