All civilizations rise and fall. The US will most likely not be any different. What year (or decade if you want to be more broad) do you think the US will face a collapse?

In the modern world we live in countries don't dissolve like civilizations of old. They reorganize political parties and governing factions, write new laws, and create news leadership position all under the same country name. The lives of the everyday citizen of said country are barely effected from the changes. Unless there is a huge event, like a massive war or other crippling circumstance the U.S. will be around for at least the rest of my lifetime and probably the lifetime of my children. The more logical scenario is that the countries of the world eventually politically merge into one world power, but that is an incredibly distant scenario.

Yeah, that idea did cross my mind. I'm just hoping the thread title attracts people to post something. We need some traffic up in this bitch. :P
Next Wednesday.
I'm one of the sixteen people in the country that doesn't have a gun. Looks like I'm screwed. :P
Don't tell users that you wish they were met with harm. It's unbecoming of an American and as a user of the community
Hope we get another democrat then
And I hope you crash into a tree.
Well, that's harsh. O_o
If it does, Americans can just move to Canada, swear allegiance to the Queen, and start the whole thing over again.
The conditions for a "collapse" of the United States are so extreme that there's no way you can predict in particular period they would occur.

So you're saying it could happen tomorrow or it could happen in 100 years?

This right here.
I don't see any first world countries goin extinct bar some insane catastrophe.
I do see the potential for some sort of political revolution though as our shit government keeps amassing problems and pissing off the average person.
It already has.
Can you elaborate?
I was indeed exaggerating at that point but America itself is so arrogant and their politics is extremely screwed up. If you want to make a law or change something then you have get through to tons of crap just to pass it through officially and rarely it is successful. Their political system is like a dynasty where the same mindset is always passed down to another hence pride and stubbornness kicks in and that's why everything remains so conservative, such as the NRA and anything from the bottom half of the US. I may be going off topic from here but that's the thing why I think so.

I'd love to see that happen here. The income inequality in this country is rage inducing. The top 400 richest Americans have more money than the bottom 150 million Americans. That's fucking insane and something needs to be done about it. What makes me even more pissed is that the 85 richest people on the planet have as much money as the bottom 50% of the entire human population (3.5 billion people). This planet is beyond fucked up.
It already has.

It feels like the American dream is dying to me. The situation with college debt and the increasing risk that college presents is starting to kick the ladder out from under those at the bottom. Our government is in the pockets of the rich and also too damn busy bickering like children over whose team is best to get shit done.
What went down with the passing of Obamacare is the best example of this. Obamacare COULD have been something amazing, but god forbid a damn Democrat got credit for it! The Republicans raped that bill during it's passing and now do nothing but incessantly complain about the mess they made of the bill. It never was even a question about doing what was right for the country. It was more important to make sure the other team looked bad and to have your talking point ready to use against them.

Honestly, I think the American Dream is already dead. The only thing politicians care about is money and getting reelected, and the rich only care about getting richer. A study out of Princeton recently claimed that the US is more like an oligarchy than a democracy, and I believe it. Congress doesn't give two shits and a sauteed rat's ass about the common people, nor do they care about the state of the economy and infrastructure. They just pretend to care to get reelected.
Next Wednesday.

Yes, you are.
If another Democrat is elected the next term that WILL be the beginning of the end. Guaranteed.
I see you posting anti-democrat/anti-liberal comments even when the topic is unrelated to politics.

Absolutely, just look at how great the USSR is doing today.
As for the question, it's impossible to say. No one thought that the USSR would've collapsed as soon and as suddenly as it did, if at all (the CIA actually thought it was headed for a golden age in the 80's).
If the US is to exist for another 50 years or more though I don't see how the status quo can remain. I really wouldn't be surprised if there was a constitutional convention in my lifetime.

Reminds me of political parties that spend more advertising money on insulting the competition than presenting their own platform.

Another Constitutional Convention would be interesting, to say the least.

Conservatives are arrogant and belligerent. It's their nature.
Just for the record, I am not a Liberal. I prefer to consider myself a Libertarian.
Depends on who gets sick and tired first. Whether it be people like me who feel like we're being taken advantage of because of our hard work, or the people who don't think people like me are doing enough for them. Eventually it's going to come to blows and it won't be a good day.

Come on, it'll be fun! Anarchy is a hoot! Think of all the fire.

lol put up viable alternative candidates then.
Europe will probably see more upheavals (and collapses) before the US does. That side of the world have Europe, the Middle East, Russia, the Baltic states, etc. The Western Hemisphere seems a bit more stable in comparison.

As a US Citizen, I have to say I agree. Wis3boi has stated one of the things that will do it! Ideologies over evidence is a dangerous game. The other is systematic.
Define collapse. No longer #1 on the economic and world influence scale or you mean like child soldiers, wild dogs roaming the streets, post-apocalypse third world lookin? No longer #1 could be within 20 years. The second... probably never imo.
USA would be the last place to collapse due to its special magical systems. Too lazy to explain, so I will just say, it is magical.
If US goes down, y'all coming with us lol, and likely well before.
