When I found out the tooth fairy was a lie....I just used common sense to understand that it wasn't physically possible for Santa to exist

let them figure it out for themselves. If they're 17 and they still think that he exists, then they deserved to be lied to for not getting a proper education.

I've decided that I'm not going to tell my kids about Santa. I don't see the point in making them believe in something totally ficticious like that.

EDIT: I'm also not going to flog the tales about the toothfairy, Easter Bunny or anything else either.

Well, honestly, I think most kids always know that Santa is not real, but do not want to interfere with the steady flow of presents. That's the reason we never had Santa in my family. Even when I was little. But I don't know how to tell them about Hanukkah Harry.

i think that they shoudl be told when the parents feel its right, they cant continue believing too long or they might hear the truth at school and then that would crush them, the easiest thing to do, its put the name of the gift on the present. like saying whos it from and then the kid will slowly put the dots together and figure it out by themselves.

I would never tell my kids, and I would make sure nobody ever tells them.

It would be like the 40 Year-Old Virgin, except they would also believe in fat men in red suits climbing down their chimneys to give them strange presents to be opened upon waking up. Sexy.

Letting them find out by themselves would probably be best...
