Many things can happen within the next 7 months.
All it takes is one little issue with Obama, and all of a sudden Romney gets a massive surge and overtakes him.
Right now, the ball is in Obama's court.
But who knows?
Romney may have convinced everybody that Obama's stagnant policies haven't done enough to sufficiently reverse the economic tides of this country.
-
If Obama wins, I'll be disappointed.
The economy is still down, and Obama's policies weren't exactly the most successful (although I will give him credit for revitalizing some areas, like the Auto industry).
What will four more years of Obama do for anybody?
but the economy is reversing as we speak. things like this don't happen in three to four years. it takes time and clearly obama has things working well.Romney may have convinced everybody that Obama's stagnant policies haven't done enough to sufficiently reverse the economic tides of this country.
peterw007
The only thing that could happen is the economy could tank.
However, the economy's been improving.
People also underestimate how good a campaigner Obama is. That guy is a really powerful speaker. He will have no trouble calling the youth vote again.
nope. i won't even celebrate when he wins because it's quite easy to call the victor here.A bit early to be declaring a victor just yet. Hold the confetti.

If he does win I expect policies that are even further left than they are now.
But I don't think he's going to win.
but he's just like bush so how can his policies be far left? and your thought is wrong. :PIf he does win I expect policies that are even further left than they are now.

Barely. Republicans have and will continue to make the case that it's been Obama's policies that have been preventing growth. And guess what? People believe that.

If Obama is like Bush why do liberals hate bush and not Obama?
Oh I know the reason...,
i'm not blind and i'm not in love with obama. i just see it how i see it and i know a winner when i see one. romney is not a winner nor is he a good representation of the United States.Your blind love for Obama is mesmerizing ya know.

He's not just like Bush, thankfully.
We'll see in November who is wrong. And I'm going to have a huge "I told you so" in store for you.

I think given the chance you would erect an Obama statue on your lawn coupled with an obama american flag.

Obama was born in Hawaii, raised in the Philippines, then moved back to Hawaii, became a community organizer in Chicago, then went to law school?
Yes...the quintessential "American" right there.
Both Romney and Obama are bizarre examples of American success stories.
Neither is a good representation of your average American.

i'm not aware of the policies obama has implemented that slow down the economy especially since it's turning around during his term and it was way deep in the shthole before he got in.[QUOTE="airshocker"][QUOTE="ZumaJones07"]but the economy is reversing as we speak. things like this don't happen in three to four years. it takes time and clearly obama has things working well.ZumaJones07

That says nothing about the effectiveness of Obama's actual policies.

Can you explain what seasonally adjusted job growth actually means? If not you're an idiot and have no idea what this graph is actually showing.

One guy can't do anything. I don't understand how anyone can get completely behind one person to run the country. It takes the cooperation of all the feds. Which is our biggest problem- the parties just troll each other, and nothing ever gets done. No reason to get rid of Obama right now. He speaks well, and is even-tempered. Thats all Im asking for.
lol you got me, but all i see is negative and failure for Bush and positive and improvement for Obama. that's what people will believe. Can you explain what seasonally adjusted job growth actually means? If not you're an idiot and have no idea what this graph is actually showing.

You should look it up, you'd then see the spin the Obama administration is putting on the job numbers.
Bush isn't running. Romney is.
I will be unsurprised when Obama wins, since its rare for a president to lose his second term, especially one who has actually been doing well recently like Obama.
That wouldn't be that hard since his policies right now aren't very liberal...chessmaster1989
I'm just saying this whole facade of Obama being a moderate is going to vanish if he wins a second term. Hopefully the republicans get both the house and the senate if we do fail to secure the presidency.

Seasonally adjusted just means you're accounting for spikes and falls in unemployment that are due to temporary employment in a time of year that occur annually. For example, during the holiday season, there's an increase in employment that doesn't really reflect any underlying change in the economy.

Seeing as Obama wasn't all that liberal even when he controlled both houses of Congress with 60 senators, I don't imagine he'll change much.[QUOTE="chessmaster1989"]That wouldn't be that hard since his policies right now aren't very liberal...airshocker

Why would you ever want republican majority, anywhere, ever? The past 4 years, all Ive seen them do is troll Obama. Day after day.
You guys don't support gay marriage, which automatically puts you on my "youre not a good human being list"

I was under the impression it's a very inaccurate way of reporting job growth?

That's just because he's a sh*tty executive. :P
I think if he gets a second term we're going to see more radical policies. I don't know if they'll get through, I hope not.

Apparently you weren't paying attention during the eight years Bush was president. Every party attacks the other when it's in power. You expect something different?
Gay marriage is, in my opinion, an inconsequential issue ATM. With the economy still terrible, it will continue to be a non-issue for me, even though I support gay marriage.
If social issues matter to you more than the economy, you're an awful human being.

I would bet you a good chunk of money that he would not propose substantially more liberal policies. Think about it, even accepting that he would like to push those policies (which I find a questionable premise given his first year-and-a-half in office), in the best case scenario he'll have a slim majority in the House and Senate. Nowhere near enough to overcome a filibuster. He'll gain literally nothing by pushing more liberal policies as he won't have a chance of getting them passed.[QUOTE="chessmaster1989"]Seeing as Obama wasn't all that liberal even when he controlled both houses of Congress with 60 senators, I don't imagine he'll change much.airshocker

More radical policies? I thought he already socialized the health care system and took away our freedom with the individual mandate. How can he get more radical than that?[QUOTE="Shmiity"]

Social issues totally matter more to me. Because one guy can't fix the economy, it's not going to work. It takes the effort of everyone. I post this on every single political thread. It takes the strength of everyone- but the two parties do not get along. So whats the point of electing someone based on the economy? I think thats useless.

You have no money to bet with, though. Don't tease me.
What about the midterm elections? It's entirely possible that the Democrats give us a shellacking and take back control of both houses. I bet you anything he'd take a sharp left on the political spectrum if that happened.

Abolishing gun rights, OFC! By setting up liberal indoctrination camps run by FEMA, and by forcing me to buy a hybrid car.
THAT'S how much worse he can get!!!!

Then you're an idiot, IMO. A strong economy benefits everyone far more than these social issues that only affect a minority of people.

Ouch, my feelings. My point was this... one guy can't fix the economy on his own. So whats the point of electing someone based on their economic views? What kind of view could they possibly have? The economy right now is: Bad. We want it to get: better. I feel like there is no point in upsetting the white house right now and replacing Obama. It's not going to do anything.

By your logic no one can fix the economy. There will NEVER be a consensus between Obama and Republicans. The only thing we can hope for is a government controlled by either party. I support the Republicans because I don't agree with most Democrats when it comes to their stances on the economy.
You ask what's the point, the point is I don't see this country getting better under Obama. I do see it getting better under Romney.

You might be right about me, there. No one can fix the economy. Because we are in bad times, and everyone is hiding their money under their bed. Myself included. I think we would be better off with no political parties, and no electoral college. I think the political system is seriously broken. I hate politics. I honestly don't know much (if anything) about it. If gay marriage was legalized nation-wide, I would be happy- and I would have no more reason to post on these forums.
