Seriously, make your life's easier and change already! The imperial system is horrible...

[QUOTE="kingkui"]Because the metric system is far superior. Why don't you change to our system?
Rocky32189
Agree with that.
But to the TC's question, too many companies use inches/feet. No one wants to switch because there are too many changes to be made.
[QUOTE="kingkui"]
Prove it.

Off the top of your head:
How many feet in a mile?

Prove it.
The units actually have some meaning, and unit conversions are much simpler. Plus, a universal system that the entire world uses will make all our lives easier. If we are going to settle on one system, it might as well be the better one.5280 and no idea.
kingkui
Kilometer = 1000 meters. Now, off the top of your head again:
How many feet in 7 miles?
How many meters in 7 kilometers?
Because of football. there would be no reason for us not to use the superior metric system but football needs it's Yards.

It pretty much tells you in the question, kilo means x10^3, so there is 1x10^3 (1000) meters in a kilometer. But you already knew that. :P
Agree with you 100% especially when studying physics the metric system is far superior. The only reason we don't change is because of money, If we converted every street sign in the country would have to be changed, cars would need to be switched to kilometers, and that would be a lot of tax money. We have Millions of signs, some in the middle of nowhere like deserts.Seriously, make your life's easier and change already! The imperial system is horrible...

36,960, simple math. I'll have to say...7000 meters?
Moving the decimal point is much easier than doing a math calculation.[QUOTE="kingkui"]

Well you should care more about spelling when in an internet forum than the metric system.

If you don't care enough about you're spelling, then everytime you attempt to argue it makes you look like a stubborn child. If i told you to use our currency system, because it is better, would you think it was? No, you were raised on a different one, which therefore makes you more used to it.

Well, since you had to tell me what a kilometer equalled out to in the first place, I'd say calculating a mile was easier, since 5,280 x 7 is very easy to do.

How does one determine the superiority of a currency? The metric system is superior because it's used everywhere and it's simpler.[QUOTE="pspdseagle"]

"Stubborn child"? Sure...
"Spelling" determines if I'm stubborn child or not? Sweet logic, man
Well, since you had to tell me what a kilometer equalled out to in the first place, I'd say calculating a mile was easier, since 5,280 x 7 is very easy to do.kingkuiIt's common sense. Kilo is a prefix that means thousand. It's obvious that a kilometer is equal to 1000 meters. You should know this without understanding the units.

If you want people to take you more seriously, then yes. NO you won't get an F on your report card, but what you do learn in school you should incorporate into real life. If you walk down the street and can only speak gibberish, people will think you're crazy. Same goes for the internet - if you're nothing but spelling errors, people will think you're crazy.
But anyways, not to drive far away from the main topic.... I ask you, why do you care? What impact does that fact that Americans don't use the metric system have on you? It would be drastic for America to just one day decide to switch everything to metric. The system we use now works fine, it's more complicated than your system, but it still works, and few Americans would really care otherwise.
