I need advice, OT. My gf is graduating in December, we currently live together in AZ and we both hate it. Trouble is we cannot decide where to move to. We both prefer cold climate, or at least not as hot as AZ is. Also with the economy in a bad spot it would be great to live in a state least affected by it.

So, any suggestions, OT? Would help a lot, thanks.

Upstate New york? New England area... all sounds good to me. Or northern california. Stay away from midwest states, far southern states and florida. Thats my 45cents.

I can only vouch for Florida. In Florida, there is no one here from the ages 25-45 o_O But seriously, Florida is meant for retirement and college students.

Not sure how you can hate AZ. It's a great state. I would suggest either CO or NM. Also Texas. If you can't tell, I'm a southwest guy. :P

Try Texas! Lots of open space, or if you feel like being closer to people, move down south near Houston and Galveston! There are many great communities in-between! I've lived in between Houston and Galveston all my life, and its a great place. 30 minutes from downtown, and 30 minutes from the beach! :D

You should definately consider Texas!

If you think jobs are scarce in AZ, just make sure you don't move to CA. We have some of the worst unemployment in the country.

I would recommend Texas for sure, has 20 million people and lots of space... I currently live in Michigan (I have all my life), I would avoid it atm with the recession and high unemployment rate... :(

Any suburbs around chicago. Its nice in the summer and cold and snowy in the winter. Plus, its right by the dells and navy pier. And theres always the indiana dunes nearby. I love it here. Plus, ill bake you a cookie.

We're at upstate NY. It only gets humid for about 2-3 weeks of summer. Otherwise, besides the rainy days, it's nice and mild most of the time. Winters are pretty cold though with lots of lake-effect snow.

I don't mind Arizona though. We always planned our activities towards sundown or before late morning. When it's hot, we stayed indoors with airconditioning. I do know it's a lot easier to stay thin and in shape there than here in NY.

It's kinda weird. When we were moving out of our neighborhood in AZ and putting our house up for rent, One of our new neighbors there came from upstate NY not too far from where I am now. They were some of teh so-called "snowbirds".

Cold climates rock! If he just wants it cooler though, he should just move to Flagstaff and stay in the state.

Move to Denver, Colorado. If you hate real hot weather, you'll love Denver. It's a beautiful city and it's temp is far more moderate than people believe.

This. But that's only if he wants to move to the best place on earth. Not sure if he's up to it. :P You get a decent amount of snow without it being overbearing. The summers are pretty dry and comfortable and the cost of living is relatively low.

I can vouch for the northern half of Kentucky, great place to live.

Cheap land, hospitable people, low crime rates, nice mix of southern and midwestern culture, and smack dab in the middle of everything.

The economy in "northern" Kentucky (Louisville and Lexington metros and upward of that).

Louisville is a beautiful and nice city too.

Have questions?, will answer to the best of my abilities.

North Dakota is the state that is the least affected by the economy. It has the lowest unemployment rate. The cost of living is pretty cheap. It's clean, it's safe, it's relatively crime-free. It's also incredibly boring and rigidly cold in the winter, so there's that...

Sounds like you should move to Minnesota. Definitely a colder climate here, and we have 5 cities in the top 20 of Money Magazine's Best Place to Live. Great place here. Nice people, great places to visit, and most of all, our Economy is doing well.

Colorado is a great place to live. Don't move to Florida. Few young people, and it's one of the hardest hit areas aside from Detroit as far as the bad economy. There are literally no jobs here.

As a fellow Arizonian, I say dont leave. You wont find anywhere else as perfect as Arizona. I'd say just relocate to Peoria, Goodyear, or Surprise. It might get alittle hot, but only a few months out of the year, and the rest is really nice. I'd say it is totally worth it.

Massachusetts, cold in the winter, with hot summers. It reached up to the mid 90s this summer. You'll also get to experience all seasons up here. Although I'd recommend anywhere in New England.

Thinking about seattle washington, denver, CO, new england, NY.
