Its not insulting to others -- its insulting to you. Thats how you feel, great! Good for you. But its not insulting to be geocentric - its natural. Enlightenment can change this but not being "open to the problems of the world" doesnt make you any less of a person either. Its natural to look out for #1.

I mean, what have you done in regards to all of the horror happening around the world? What is your contribution?

DigitalExile

Why I think it is insulting is because people can remember what they were doing at the time--what they had for breakfast, what colour socks they had on, because two planes slammed into buildings. If it was in another nation he wouldn't care.

Can he remember what he had for breakfast when America slammed rockets and bullets into innocents in retalliation? No, because "that's war for you!" Anyway, it wasn't personally directed at him. I was making a point that used what he said as a basis.

Well it hits closer to home for a lot of people because it happend at home. I mean, do YOU remember what you were doing when we slammed rockets and bullets into innocents in retalliation? Do you remember what you were doing when the Genocide in Darfur began? Do you remember what you were doing when the Tsunami hit?

I was at home looking up the games for the BC Lions.Vilot_Hero

Go Lions!

Anyways, I was at school and they told us that New York was being attacked. I was pretty young and didn't realize how serious it was, well I am also canadian. I remember my mom not letting me and my older brother watch tv because she didn't want us to see the attack.

I was at home and my sister whose in the military called saying something like we're at war. The first building was already hit and then I watched the second plane hit. And then I went to automotive class later that afternoon and watched it on the tv that was there. I believe they let us go home early. Then we saw the buildings collapse.

Sure, it's terrible when you think of it that way but that's human nature. You're always going to care more about something that directly affects you. Much like various people in the US don't care too much about random small events in Texas, I don't care too much about what happens in Rhode Island. It's just on a greater scale with national tragedies and other countries. Sure, I note suicide bombings in Israel, but I don't feel the personal connection that I did to 9/11.

EDIT: Darn, Sajedene is just better/faster than myself.

I was about to start gym class, when the principal told us to go to the library. She turned the TV, and we saw the twin towers on fire. I was 10 and I remember i didn't know how bad the situation was. Later that night, when Otro Rollo started (a very popular Mexican TV show) the host didn't do the first part of the show to show his condolences to those who died that day.

you obviously dont realize then that when a person is shocked or traumatized that it is human nature to remeber things you normally wouldnt ive a crap about but when you are shock or traumatized that memory is pasted into your mind.

I woke up, ate breakfast. Saw it on TV and thought, "Well this will be big". Went to school and had a normal day then came back home and watched CNN. It was a normal day for the most part for me but this happened.

Terrible event.

I was in second grade and I found out just before i left for school. So I ran to school to tell everyone in the schoolyard what happened and I remember a couple others had heard about it too. Soon, the whole school was let out and we watched the original 101 dalmations which I stayed to watch the whole thing since I could walk home whenever I wanted to. Remember it like yesterday.

I live in new York and I was in 8th grade on sept. 11th 2001. The school didnt tell us about the attacks until the end of the day because they didnt want there to be any panic. My aunt was in one tower while my Uncle was in the other and they both made it out alive. My dad was a new york city police officer at the time and he didnt come home for a week while he working at ground zero. It was a terrible time.

I was only in 5th grade, they refused to tell us what was going on. Most kid's parents came to pick them up, mine didn't. So I sat in a classroom with like 10 after the initial morning evacuation then like 5 for the rest of the afternoon. We played cards while the teachers wept. We saw people running through the hallways crying and we had thought there was a shooting in the high school attached to my grade school. I still wonder why they never told us what really happened. I had family in the city at the time since I'm from New York, luckily they were all okay. So when I got home I learned wtf was going on I pieced everything together but cynical as it sounds I was emotionally unaffected I was just like oh too bad.

I will not be sleeping tonight. I clicked -- and then kept clicking at all of the suggested videos. Videos of the Ken Cosgrove call... videos of people jumping. I mean, how horrible was it that I cannot comprehend -- that people were driven to the point of jumping.

I'm so sad and upset right now :(

I used to work really late with a friend of mine and we would stay up late and play games. He went home and I decided to turn on the news while I cleaned up my apartment. One of the towers had just been hit and there was still a lot of confusion. They seem to think at first that just a small plane had hit it and it was just a freak accident.

Then the second plane came seemingly out of nowhere and hit the other tower as I watched.

I didn't work the next day so needless to say I was up all night and watched with surreal horror as the towers collapsed and fell and all hell broke loose.

I was getting ready for this stupid math class when I turned on the tv. It was so disturbing since I saw the second plane hit. To this day I still get emotional about it and I still cant watch any footage or even any movie about it.

Sajedene

Exactly the same as me.It just disturbs me a little too much.

I remember I was about to go to school, when my mom turned on the radio and there were mentions bombings in NYC.I remember every minute of that day.

It was a particularly crisp September 11th and I was waiting for my 7th grade class to enter session. My friend informed me that a plane had crashed into a skyscraper in New York city and I met this with a small amount of disbelief. I had no idea that this plane was a jetliner and that it a mere accident. Class got in and the teacher informed us that suspected terrorists had crashed a jet into the world trade center towers in NYC. We were shown some CNN footage and then carried on normally afterward. Very odd day. Perhaps it's the fact that I am not an American that I didn't see it as a day that would, even many years later, be one of the biggest event of recent time.

I had just stepped out of the shower when the first plane hit. I walked into my parents room to wish my dad a happy birthday before going to school, and I saw the plane hit on the news. We all thought it was some freak accident at that point. I was in eighth grade science class when I heard that a second plane hit, and people were starting to say it was an attack. about an hour later, my dad came to take me and my sister home.

I was home that day and was watching tv. I didn't actually notice what was happening for a while until I started surfing through the channels and noticed the same burning building on 12 different channels. I ended up watching that for most of the day. Doubt I will ever forget it.

I will never forget.

It was an overcast morning (I live on the West coast) and I was going early to high school to review football films. I was dragging my tuba behind me and I walk into the room not to see the previous week's game in the screen, but the two towers on screen.

Throughout the rest of the day, we watched it in class and I think the first tower fell during chemistry. This girl next to me ran out because her father was supposed to be there. Fortunately he wasnt.

I cant describe the feeling. It was like an emotionless out of body experience. Idunno if the shock was too great or what but I just remember seeing it happen and not being able to really comprehend it.

I was in 9th grade art class an the teacher was called to another room. He came back not really knowing what was going on but knew something was happening to the World Trade Center. My next class was World Geography and the whole time we were all glued to the tv not knowing what to do and afraid something else was about to happen.

That evening I laid on the couch literally feeling sick from thinking about what was happening... thinking of the number of people that had died. I went to church that night for a meeting as did many other people just to be comforted by the pastor's words.

For a while it was difficult to think about but it was good to see the country united for once. I miss that unity...

school. was a typical, normal day. never had any idea anything was up till I came home, and even then, I didn't care that much. dunno why, maybe because it was (essentially) on the other side of the country, and I'd never been there before.

ROFLCOPTER at some of the posters.

How weak can you be crying on this at that time and still feeling sad:| .Dont know why would anyone be sad on such a thing just becasue they happen to see it on TV.Many people die everyday, just becasue it was the WTC,doesnt mean that now you have to get sad lol.

Hitman_887

Yes, people die every day, but most deaths aren't in the public eye as much as 9/11 was. Over a thousand people died when the towers collapsed and it was there for all to see, from dozens of sources. You don't need to mock the users here who still feel upset about it. They have something called EMPATHY.
