I'm a sucker for Horror movies. Which are very scary horror movies ?

I enjoy Vampires, Haunted mansion, Curse, Zombies kind of horror movies, not a fan of phycological thrillers or serial killer movies so don't recommend them.

I've watched below listed movies and really enjoyed them :

Bram Stroker's Dracula

Evil Dead

Hellraiser

Ju on The Curse

Ring

Shutter

ETC

What movies you recommend OT ?

There are none. The only two that even gave me a creepy feelings were Signs (I thought the aliens were very well done) and IT.

Yeah Pennywise freaked me out when I watched IT as a kid.

I love horror films off the top of my head there was something I watched the otherday, called VHS which is like a collection of short films within a film. It was quite good for a low budget flick, I hadn't really heard of.

There's always one movie a year that everyone goes to see because "OMG it's going to be sooooo scary!" and it ends up being a pop-up scare movie like Insidious or pretending to be a Ghostbuster like in Paranormal Activity.

Last movie to genuinely scare me was Child's Play when I watched it 10 years ago. :P

Facilitating the suspension of disbelief is the best element a "good" horror movie can have.

pretty much all horror movies become very good horror movies, if you watch them alone late at night that's my experience anyways the second you turn on the lights and invite over company, the cliché of it all will become too apparent and ruin the setting enjoy

REC is awesome. I also really liked the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake with Jessica Biels - one of the few truly scary movies I've seen in a long time.

None. Since they are movies and all....

I really wish I was one of those people who could suspend belief long enough to be scared of something fictional. I'm not though. It's like I can see the cameras and the posse of people walking around off screen.

Look up the first and original Night of the Demons. The story is sort of funny but the make up and scares in the movie were pretty great.

I have difficulty finding anything particularly scary anymore. Only movie that has genuinely scared me recently was Insidious. That's just me though.

  • Insidious
  • Signs
  • Mirrors
  • Jeepers Creepers
  • The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Insidious is the only real scary one out of them, but the others do well at generating nerve-wracking atmospheres and some chilling moments. A movie to look out for this October looks very scary however, it's called Sinister. Can't wait to see that!

REC 2 is the only one that sort of scared me/made me jump. I seen quite lot of horror movies and alot usually fail in the scares even if the plots are good. I love Evil Dead 1 and 2 though. Foreign movies or independent movies usually excel in the scare factors although that doesn't always equal good, unless you just want disturbing scenes, creepy atmosphere and scares.

Paranormal Activity

Few movies have freaked me out, but this one did. Some like it, some hate it.

The Descent (2005)

I've never felt more claustrophobic while watching a movie.

Marebito is from Takashi Shimizu (The Grudge, Ju-On, Shock Labyrinth 3D) and stars Shinya Tsukamoto (Tetsuo: The Iron Man) as an amateur reporter/voyeur that finds a woman that he calls "F" and really weird and creepy stuff starts happening later on.

The original Scream trilogy (Scream 1 (1996), Scream 2 (1997) and Scream 3 (2000)) was quite scary but not very scary because they had a funny element. I usually do not like very scary movies.

Noroi: The Curse (This one will make you scream like a 10 year old girl)

I just watched this tonight. I wouldn't say it was especially scary, but it was good.

Marebito (Ok, this one is more creepy than scary but I guess it still counts?)

This is one of the few movies that's so boring it almost put me to sleep. Plus there's no payoff for sitting through this sludge.

The Innkeepers

Not a bad movie, but there's no payoff at all (really, there's none, it just sort of ends) and the story doesn't make any sense in the end.

V/H/S

K0PaSk4

I'm gonna watch VHS later this week, I hope it's good.
