The majority of Maiden fans are probably less annoying than most other mainstream metal fans. The only annoying thing about them is the saying, "up the irons," which I think is sometimes funny but it gets slightly annoying.

Well i think most people are choosing the bands based off what they see on the forums. I could be wrong though :P. Coming from someone who's been to more concerts than he should have been, and works at a radiostation; Metal heads, hardcore or not, are very annoying at times. Most are so closed minded, refuse to listen to other genre's and wrap their taste around metal music to the point where everything has to sound like metal. Its the most annoying thing in the world, especially working with them. :?
Tool fans are pretty bad as well, I know of fans who honestly think of Maynard as a god.... :?
And Smashing Pumpkin fans are annoying too. You got two kinds of them, the ones who only like the old band because they don't know the band very well and just want to live in nostalgia, or you got the idiot ones such as myself who go ballistic at their concerts and thinks they know everything about the band. :P
Really?:? I might be a bit biased (:P) But in my experience, most metalheads seem to be the most accepting of other genres....sure you get a good number of the elitists, but it seems to me that the open minded ones are more common...Well i think most people are choosing the bands based off what they see on the forums. Same. I've ran into a few on here..[QUOTE="wired4stuff"]Disturbed, Three Days Grace.. Probably because the bands suck.aaronmullanSo... their fans are annoying because you don't like the band? nah dude, but im surrounded by a ton of people who think disturbed is the greatest thing since canned bread, and i think they all seem to be idiots. youd understand if you talked to them.
Fall Out Boy fans are pretty bad, well the teen girls anyway who swoon over the music saying its the best ever (although this may be cause i dislike the band.
Not really a specific band but more people who are jsut ignorant to music in general, I know a friend who has said "i dont listen to anything if its in the top 40, i just cant like it cause its popular". Mind you this person is a big Linken Park fan and Paramore, after telling him both were very popular and mainstream he tried to make me prove it and i gave up.
i have to say i never get caught in music conversations because as soon as i mention Ska music people jsut go huh or dont really know what indie or folk music is like.
While Aerosmith is my favorite and AC/DC is one of my favorites, yes the people who think that classic rock is the only good genre of rock are really annoying.AC/DC, Aerosmith, and classic rock elitists.
get-ka12
There are bands that have annoying fans but I would say in music in general it would have to be death metal elitists. I like my share of death metal (Death, Job for a Cowboy, Whitechapel) but these guys just have issues. Everything else except cannibal corpse, necrophagist, nile, dying faetus etc is just not good enough and not up to par musically apparently. I study music at college and I knoew a few of these guys. Decent guys when you DON'T talk to them about music, complete d**kheads when you do.
I just realize that I worded that wrong. :P I completely get what you mean, but I'm talking more the people who think they started making music with Psychosocial. The people who really don't know Corey's ass from Sid's elbow. I know a couple of REAL fans, and they may think that Slipknot is the BEST metal band, but they KNOW that Slipknot is not the GREATEST metal band. Even being able to call Slipknot metal is stretching it. I know what you mean now. People who have heard like two or three songs and immediately think "THESE GUYS R AWESUM" ? This is coming from a fan of Slipknot. I know for a fact that Slipknot haven't changed much in terms of metal, but I do like them quite a bit. I think those people you know are people who think Joey Jordinsonis the best drummer of all time, am I right? :P Not that Joey is a bad drummer, but it really gets to me when people say "best drummer ever" beginning with "Joey Jordison is the." Is he good? Sure. Is he the best? Not even close.[QUOTE="SoraX64"][QUOTE="aaronmullan"] Is their fans calling them "the best metal band" really ignorance? Maybe they really feel that way.aaronmullan
Metallica (especially where I live), Dream Theater, Radiohead, Opeth (as much as I love the band this is true), The Beatles, and most prog fans.
Rikardur
I think prog rock as a genre is pretentious and annoying. its one thing if some article labels a band forward-thinking and progressive, but if a band labels themselves that, they're just douchebags, and their fans are even worse

What's different about saying "______(Insert band here) is awesome!""Up the Irons" just applies specifically to Maiden...Altough I am a hardcore Maiden fan so I may be biased, but I see no difference in either statement.
Beatles fans around the ages of 14-17ish who like them just becuase they think they are 'cool'
ac/dc 13 year old fans
nirvana teenage fans

Metallica and Megadeth fans who cannot hear one of the songs from each band without saying "Metallica/Megadeth is the best band ever! "Megadeth/Metallica sucks!"
Personally, I can listen to both, besides, I'm sure Dave Mustaine is over Metallica by now, and both bands want this non-existent rivalry to die.
Slayer fans who are like this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLDhISoln64
As good as Slayer is *glances at sig :P* I cannot STAND hardcore to die for Slayer fans.
Nickelback fans.
This one probably stirkes me more personally than any other band, because my brother and friend are huge into Nickelback and will never listen to reason on why they are overrated and playing the wrong genre for their talent.

"Slipknot is the best band ever!!!!!" That statement makes me want to break something, nowhere NEAR best band ever, and once again...Slipknot fan here, I have all their studio albums.
Then, both my brother and friend who always call me out on being a metal head and saying my music sucks more than anything just because of the death growl. Then when I say "well, vocalists you listen to (Breaking Benjamin, Saliva) sounds like they are crying/whining/moaning about a girl all the time, then one song later act like they are insane cool party animals." They get mad at me for saying that. So they're allowed to call my fav bands vocals crap, but when I do it, it's taboo. grrrrr.
[QUOTE="GettingTired"]Minor Threat (referring to the straight edge crowd) Bob Marley (How has no one mentioned this one?) Metallica 3OH3, BrokencydeBoogie_J
how are bob marley fans annoying? or are you just referring to the stoner crowd in general?
The stoner crowd in general. I guess I should say I'm not talking about the fans who really appreciate Bob Marley, but rather the stoner crowd who all have a Bob Marley poster just to seem "in". The fake ones. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.[QUOTE="Boogie_J"][QUOTE="Darth-Caedus"] Really?:?
