The UK, and how different is british culture from american culture by the way?

SideSwipes

UK has much MUCH cleaner public bathrooms and facilities etc. They are pretty much uniformally liberal while america is just all over the place with the middle of the country and the coasts bickering all the time. And Britian seems to have higher standards of what makes it onto the radio in terms of music while we play any pop crap that we can find.

America is also much more acceptable of violence in TV, games, the media etc. but are horrified about nudity, And they are more open about nudity but seem to be horrified about violence. Or atleast thats what it seems like to me. And thats pretty much it lol, Honestly UK could pass off as just another US state because our culture varies a ton depending on where you live because its such a big country

Everything from that point onwards was completely wrong.

Probably. Ive only been there once. idk

You can't be very interested in diplomacy if you weren't aware that the UK is the country that we have the closest ties with period. Even if you knew nothing of politics the fact that the UK is the only English speaking country in Europe should have been a hint that we probably have more in common with them than, say, France or Germany.gameguy6700

[QUOTE="carrot-cake"][QUOTE="Gallion-Beast"] [QUOTE="carrot-cake"]Geography fail. Obviously the United Kingdom, only English speaking country, and they've helped each other out in many conflicts

And here I thought we spoke English here in Ireland as well.

Well, Irish is the first official language of Ireland, but yeah, sorry about that I completely forgot about Ireland.

Officially yeah, but it's not like it's actually spoken outside of classrooms and some remote regions of the country.

I would only say Ireland would be one of it's closest ties if we were talking about it's history with the civilians (the famine). However in terms of politics, trade etc. Ireland is not close.

The UK. Although, despite what some people may say currently, the US and France have also had an unique and close relationship.

Can you elaborate on that US and France relationship?

We've had close ties with them since our independence from England.

Yeah, but relations with the British have been much more stable. Americans identify with British culture much easier than French culture. It could be argued that the alliance between France and America is the longest lasting, but as two societies we are pretty far apart.

Not that I'm Irish, but I would have have thought they'd be fairly close politically, borne out of their close ancestral tie... Ah well I could be wrong.

Indeed they were, they had tons of colonies prior to the end of WWII. Not to mention they had some of the largest ones. But then, almost all countries in Europe had colonies all around the world.

Most do know that....but that is not pertinent to today's political climate. And the UK is more closely aligned to the US than any other European country.

As far as European countries...the UK is religious. And I think you'd be surprised as how the US is not dominated by religion.

I know how the UK is divided up. :? However, it's always England people refer to, because Northern Ireland, Wales, and Scotland have their own unique cultures and languages that stand apart from England. They even have their own flags, with the UK flag being a blend of all the respective lands' flags except for Wales. The United Kingdom is the only one officially recognized, since they have a unitary government, but the US has the most history with England, plus they refer to themselves individually as a country; why else would it have been England that made it to the World Cup, brandishing the St. George's cross?

Actually, most Dutch people either talk in a very bad Dutch accent, or try to mimmick Americans by saying'like' three times per sentence.
