The Joker wasn't clever?
"Joker : You didn't think I was going to lost the fight for Gotham soul in a fistfight with you?! No, you need an ace in the hole and mine's Harvey!"
"Batman : What did you do?!"
" Joker : I took Gotham whithe knight... and I brought him down to our level!"
Admit it, you are simply trying to say the contrary of everyone else to the point you are believing yourself. It's a super heroes movie... anyone trying to imply it as unrealistic only for the mean of bashing it is the idiot.

Why do you feel the need to protect it so much? I was just explaining something to a dude from the first page, and another guy agreed with my little observations (which, by the way, you failed to debunk). But no, you had to insult us...
You know, it's kind of funny that you say Fallout 3 is pretentious. F3's and MGS4's fans are the gaming correspondents of TDK's fans.
[QUOTE="GIJames248"][QUOTE="Redgarl"]Well, most of your points are totally uselless and doesn't really brought anything more to the movie.
Well, what was sure is that at the end of the tunnel, a helicopter was going to be in reinforcement. And the guys could have put the cable anywhere on the building, they were using cable guns.
The joker was working with the Mafia who was able to make the whole plan for getting LAU out of the MCU and took care of Dent and Rachel. He was able to sneak into the hospital easily, so placing a dozen of c4 block shouldn't have been that hard.
At that moment he wanted to know the identity of Batman, he changed opinion when he was face to face with him... he told him : "I wanted to know what you would do, and you didn't dissapoint... you let 5 peoples died and let Dent took your place!". The Joker already knew Dent wasn't Batman.
I think everyone knew that Dent wasn't Batman. He did that to make the whole Joker plan to fall apart... and guess what, it worked.
Well, I can easily see that you are trying to find anything that could simply touch the credibility of the movie. If I was to spoil the fun of watching a movie by trying to find so much useless situations, I would be blocked at the damn car exploiding...
For the scene with Dent and Maroni, Dent seat his belt just before shooting the driver... and that was the point...
The only thing I can see is that you can't take the popularity of the movie. So by your standard, if everybody loves something, you need to hate this something. That is what that doesn't make sense here.

The Joker wasn't clever, just incredibly lucky, and it did detract from the movie. Great movies must be consistent and TDK posed as some dark, gritty, believable masterpiece and while it was dark and gritty the believability and brilliance of the Joker's character (which was fantastic for what the movie allowed it to be) were mitigated by all the "coincidinces" listed above. (I'm sorry the Joker cannot fill two ferries to the brim with gasoline and nobody notice) That said it was still a good super hero movie, but it wasn't the transendental piece of art everyone claimed it was.

Pointless calumnies and fallacies aside your main gist is that it is a superhero movie and thus it can be unrealistic and consist of plot holes. I agree with you that it is most definately a superhero movie, but I take issue with people who try to make it more than that by creating some sort of artistic masterpiece out of it. Before I saw it I read Roger Ebert's review and watched the trailers and thought that maybe Ebert was right in saying that this was not only a good superhero flick, but also a good movie in its own right; i.e. it was able to transend genre confines and actually become a work of cinimatic art. After watching the movie I could tell that it tries to be more than just a batman movie, but the aforementioned plot holes and inconsistinciens place it firmly in the realm of just another dark, well produced superhero movie that was fortunate to have a very good, if unrealistic, villain.

What plot holes buddy? You're complaining that we didn't see the Joker create all of these traps? The movie was long enough as it was. Read that word: MOVIE. They don't have to show you everything. And because its a MOVIE things can be surreal. It doesn't have to mimic life. Its about the extraordinary.
I don't understand what was unrealistic about the villain?

His karma. We haven't seen so much luck since Citizen Kane (you know, those guys that heard his last words despite nobody being near him when he died).
You lost me man lol.[QUOTE="Toriko42"][QUOTE="XxSTILL_BORNxX"]TDK, It revolutionized how comic book movies should look like and i hope coming comic book movies take TDK's direction...although i doubt it.The_Last_RideA great movie but I don't see what was so revolutionary about it. They made it more "real" in the movie. They didn't follow the superhero movie recipe. They show you true characters in that movie Wtf are you talking about? Batman is suppose to be realistic. This isn't revolutionary at all.

...wtf are you talking about, The_Last_Ride? I don't see how this movie is any more realistic than other superhero movies, and it most certainly isn't revolutionary.

Yeah Batman Forever and Batman and Robin were so realistic...
Ive really only seen the Dark Knight this year and was a bit disappointed with it. Id like to see Gran Torino, the Wrestler and maybe Slumdog Millionairre.nikolai37
Gran Torino was the best movie of the year, imo.

You lost me man lol.Citizen Kane, the best movie in history: some dudes try to find out what Kane's last word means, despite the fact that he was alone when he died.
It takes the same amount of luck to know that word as it takes for a fingerprint to reach a bullet through it's case (and that's a major plot point in TDK).

I'm aware of Citizen Kane, I've seen it etc BUT I didn't get how that related to TDK. I don't mind about the bullet lol, you have to suspend belief sometimes.Ive really only seen the Dark Knight this year and was a bit disappointed with it. Yeah Batman Forever and Batman and Robin were so realistic...
Yeah because the Batman comics and cartoons have never had that realistic take on the whole superhero scene.mmm I haven't seen it yet lol, the effects etc look spectacular but I don't know if it would be my sort of thing. I might see it on DVD if I have the chance.By the way BL, have you seen Speed Racer? I'm really curious to know what you think about it.
If not, then don't bother watching it if it's not atleast 720p.

Yeah because the Batman comics and cartoons have never had that realistic take on the whole superhero scene. Sooo, why did you say that Batman is supposed to be realistic if the original source material isn't?For all those people who are saying the joker is unrealistic, well, that's whats he's supposed to be!
He never feels anything except the violence, corruption and anarchy he brings to the world.
His character is a FORCE, not a person. His sole purpose is to bring what was said above....

It didn't live up to the hype at all; Heath Ledger was alright, but not amazing. It dragged on for too long.

I start to notice some patterns when people are talking about TDK.
His sole purpose is to have fun, I think.

I didnt think it was a bad movie, I just was epecting one of the greatest movies reading what a lot of people on the internet were saying. I wasnt blown away y it at all, and I thought Nicholsons Joker was better than Ledger's.
Burn After Reading
It denotes the absurdity of political paranoia and the idiotic nature of modern Western domesticity in one easy to swallow package.
Waltz With Bashir was the best film.
Slumdog Millionaire was also fantastic
Hunger was a beautiful artistic achievement
Wall E was a real intellectual childrens film, really brilliant both in style and theme.
4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days was an amazing feat or film making.
If you didn't see those 5 films, well I feel sorry for you.
my top five have to be
1.Slumdog Millionaire
2.The Dark Knight
3.WALL-E
4.Ironman
5.The Wrestler
notable: benjamin button, changling
i still haven't seen frost/nixon, milk, and grand torino.

Agreed :D. Nicholson owns Ledger.

I thought it was craptastic. And most romanians think so too.
But I can see why "westerners" say it's amazing.
Want to see a better movie of ours? Hunt down a copy of this one and this one.
