[QUOTE="StrawberryHill"][QUOTE="Juggernaut140"] I am :Dcyberdarkkid
I'm not a fan of Armored Saint, but interestingly, I took drum lessons for a while from one of Armored Saint's drummers...and the teacher was also in a band during the 1980s called Juggernaut. Very interesting. Very interesting, indeed. *eyes Juggernaut140 in suspicion*
I love Metallica while Cliff Burton was with them. Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets are still great metal albums. Even Justice was pretty damned good, although you can't hear the bass, which is a shame. After Justice, however, Metallica's music and lyrics started to lose their sharpness, imo. I won't say they sold out, but their songs lost the awareness that their earlier music had.
In contrast, Megadeth and Slayer have never strayed from their politically and socically "biting" lyrics. And their music is still pretty hard hitting...especially Slayer's. I respect Megadeth and Slayer more than Metallica for staying true to their roots.
Regardless of this, however, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets are great...I like them more than anything Megadeth and Slayer have put out, as albums. Out of the list, I'd have to say that Metallica is my favorite because of their early albums, but I have a deeper respect for Megadeth and Slayer for sticking to their musical and lyrical guns. Even though Metallica released a few amazing albums early on, they shoot blanks these days.
You didn't like Kill 'Em All?Yeah, I like Kill 'Em All, but they were just warming up on that album. It's good, but I think Metallica truly hit their stride and found their signature on their sophomore album.
